Warm up time
Hi
Only having my 320i a short time just began to notice it takes around 12/15 mins (say 8 miles) to get to operating temp. Any idea if this is the norm. Cheers |

Remember it is the oil temperature. Coolant temperature will be running a few degrees ahead in normal use.
Similar driving time for my 535i, even worse in colder temperatures. HighlandPete |

My dirty old diesel takes ages. Never timed it but 10 minutes or so, but nine times out of ten that's getting on the motorway within 5 mins with another 5 mins to get to temp.
I noticed today I drove a couple of miles into town, sat waiting with engine idling to pick up the Mrs for nearly 10 mins, drove home, and whilst parking the needle was about a quarter of the way up. It was 10deg C outside. Heaters were blowing warm, but as another poster says coolant / oil temps are adrift of each other. Annoying if you're being good and not nailing it unless up to temperature!
