Looks like a very inexpensive way of gaining HP and Tq. I may just consider this mod since I still have warranty on my 430i GC.

Yeah. The JB+ is a great way to start while in warranty. I recently ran out of warranty so I’m going to sell my JB+ and get a stage 1 tune from somewhere. I’m researching my option now.

Maybe I can just take your JB+ off your hands? $?

To be clear, $200 for 10% increase in power - and according to the dyno graphs an extra 250 rpm to play with at the far end of the tach - what a bargain. I have the old 330i still which really is getting retired soon, and my e36 m3 summer toy/track car... either of those cars would cost at least $1000 to gain that much.

My question is does the JB4 also tap into cam timing? I think in terms of "safe" If I go this direction, I would use the 91 oct tune and run 93.

I just drove a 2016 328 xi sport we have at work - very nice car to say the least, but it's not my taste, I will be getting a 328i sport or m sport with a 6 speed. That car has plenty of poke for what it is - It's pretty well equipped, so I imagine it weighs close to 3600 being awd - and frankly that 8 speed is tremendous, just not for me.

We had a 340xi M sport, also a 16 recently - that car was spectacular. I just can justify the $6000 swing for a clean car in that age range for my daily back and forth - thats why I bought the M3 (I have to keep telling myself this).

Great thread for the most part. Glad to see this forum is active

Hey all,

The time has come. Flashed bootmod3 Stage 1 (91 oct) map today. Dyno comparisons to stock and JB+ to follow, with my usual focus on hard data and clean comparisons. I'll find the appropriate thread to tack onto and leave this as-is.

Just wondering if you upgrade the charge pipe when running the JB+? I am interested in installing something similar (either JB+/Dinan tuner), but am a little worried about the N20 charge pipe holding up.

Ran my car with JB+ on the stock charge pipe for over a year.

When I upgraded to a aluminum part, the OEM part showed no signs of premature wear, cracking or stress.

JB+ is so mild, I'd doubt you'd have an issue unless your CP is already on its way out.

Inspect your CP at the seals and the pipe itself for signs of dryness/cracking. If you find none, enjoy your extra boost. 😬

Thank you for confirming! This is my only concern. Seems like most of the charge pipe issues I've seen happen to N55. That is surprising since N20 is technically a more "stressed" engine (based on the HP/L of displacement).

Another question: which JB+ boost setting did you use for the dyno? Sorry if you had mentioned it somewhere else, but I couldn't find the detail.

No prob, this is what the forum is for, glad to help.

It was set to max (+4 psi).

Can't wait to see the results, I have been on the fence to get BM3 for quite while

+1

I was going to do that shit a week into owning the car just knowing that the engine isn't putting out power to it's true potential. 220 to the rear wheels would be 👌

I hope my fellow N20er who bought my JB+ for $55 is happy with that mod, it is bargain when you can get one used in good condition as well. I only sold it because i have moved on to a more expensive tune to BM3..
