leftover "new" 2016 328 wagon

Was just browsing around looking at local inventory and for some odd reason, Northwest BMW, one of the smaller dealers in Maryland, has TWO (!!) leftover 2016 model year 3 series in their inventory. It sort of makes sense that one is a a wagon. Not sure why a smallish non volume dealer would order such a random model (maybe custom order, but then customer's financing fell through or something?). The other one is a loaded RWD 340i.

Both a heavily discounted, and the wagon's listed "internet price" is a full 10k off the 50k list price.

So I figure someone could probably lowball them some more and maybe drive off in a well optioned AWD 3 series wagon for like 38k plus tax and tags? As an added bonus, since it is model year 2016, wouldn't whoever bought it be entitled to the old 4 year 50k all inclusive (wiper blades, brake pads, spark plugs etc) maintenance as well? And you would still have a full 4 year warranty as well.

I wonder why these 2 orphaned 2016 model year cars are still sitting on their lot? They are not loaners or demonstrators either, since the 340i is shown to have 30 miles on the odometer and the wagon only 6 miles.

The only concern would be these cars just sitting on the lots unused and undriven for almost THREE years. The battery and tires may have degraded in the meantime and even drivetrain components and seals may be of concern just sitting for so long.

Still, kinda crazy to have these leftover 16' models still sitting in a dealer lot, right?

I got $5k off a 2018 wagon, before rebates. $9k after rebates.

I imagine they can do more than $10k.

It looks like they might have a 2016 330 sedan as well. I too would be nervous about what may have deteriorated on these cars after years of sitting. The Ford dealer near me in Middleton, WI has a new 2015 Ecoboost Mustang still sitting on the lot. I thought about seeing how low they would go but I don't want to run into leaks or other problems right away.
