Electric rear sunshade is something I've always wanted!

If I'm not mistaken driver assistance package is just backup camera and parking sensors. My car has that package and I don't have stuff like blind spot detection or active cruise

To get the other stuff you have to get the driver’s assistance plus package, or something like that. I’ve got the camera and parking sensors, plus whatever else the first one comes with. But not the blind spot, lane departure, auto braking, adaptive cruise, etc.

I feel the first package is pretty much a necessity these days. Granted, in days past I did just fine without the cameras or the beepers. I especially like the full surround beeping and on screen radar letting you know exactly where and how far something is. Great for low lying bumper snags.

The plus package I can live without. The blind spot monitor would be nice, but I habitually lean forward for a different mirror angle and look over my shoulder anyway even in cars that do have them. It probably would never get used.

Sort of like when your passenger tells you traffic is clear to pull out on their side, I’m still going to look anyway.

For MY 2018 Park Distance Control was a stand alone option, not part of any package.

Interesting. The original owner was a senior so I’m not surprised he opted for the lane departure and blind spot warning but I’m just like you…I’ve disabled everything and prefer to aim my side mirrors accurately and visually check my blind spots before turning. I must be the oldest 40 year old given all this tech I don’t use.

On a side note I know you’ll appreciate this: received my spare primary & secondary expansion tank caps. Figure better be prepared for the signs.

tturedraider I just got it home for the 24 hour test drive. Right off the bat, the car fax said rear minor damage. I will have to take a very close look tomorrow. I can't tell the rear bumper has been painted, but I will look. As for the front bumper. It has been, including the small plastic in front of the hood. You can't tell unless you really look. It was probably something small, there's a scuff on one of the headlights. The wheels have a few scuffs and there are some dings in the lower part of the passenger side, and a scuffed up rocker. Overall, the car is clean and drives nice, but I don't know how you guys feel, would you buy a car that had a minor accident? I am sort of leaning with I would. I can find someone who can repaint that bumper/rocker, touch up the chips and make it look brand new.

Here are the photos I managed to get.

Scuff in the headlight.

The trunk is off in this picture, but I'm fairly certain, no paint/damage. Thoughts?

How good is the deal on this one? It kinda seems to have had a hard life for 6,900 miles.

$28k. And yes, for the miles it should not have issues, but I'm guessing it made a lot of small trips or something. Keeping miles that low seems very difficult. But I figure if I find one at BMW as CPO it will be more money, maybe a grand or so, and have more miles.

I should note. CarMax autocheck says accident, Carfax only says damage reported.

I just did a CPO search and I’m seeing quite a few not far from you in the $26k - $28k range with 30k-ish miles. How many miles do you typically drive per year? Of course, the CPO warranty is unlimited mileage. But, I know you’ve been interested in a fairly long extended warranty.

Edit: all M Sports, but none with the Track Handling pkg

Another consideration might be that BMWFS is offering 0.9% for 36 months and 1.9% up to 60 months.

Another thing I was noticing on the CPO website was that 340i’s tend to be only $2k - $3k more than 330i’s. That makes them a relative bargain based on the price difference when new. I understand that might exceed your budget.

Edit: I’m gonna take back the statement above. Just did a 340i M Sport search and I’m seeing prices north of $35k. Prices actually seem to have increased over the last month if I’m recalling prices from a month ago correctly.

I wouldn't be too worried about minor damage. My car had minor damage to the rear and if it weren't for the CarFax, I would've never known!

Yeah, you are correct about the pricing on 330s. Beverly hills bmw has a CPO 330 with 10k (not on bmw CPO) for $29k and all 340s are about 6k more!

Well I notice these things lol. Just trying to decide if making the repairs to the front and rocker still make it a decent deal. The wheels and door chips, I can't really do much about. But I can bring it up. I've had cars with 100k that have had minimal rim scratching and this one has it on every wheel.

My brief inspection this AM leads me to believe that only the front bumper was painted. Fairly confident the rear bumper, trunk have not and same goes for the rest of the car.

Car is very clean on the underside though. Definitely looks like 7k miles.

Keep in mind that right now the used car market is only getting more $$$$ every day. Also ownership costs of a x40 is more than an x30 especially if it's an M Perf.

Absolutely! When I got to carmax they actually had the price at $29,999 but had to honor it at $27,999 since I transferred it at that price. I don't really want a 340i anyway. The 4 cylinder is plenty powerful for me. And the increase in price isn't worth it. I am coming from a 1999 E36 328i, 2000 E39 528iT, and 2002 E46 330i (my wife has the X3). This car is leaps and bounds over those. Especially since the lowest mileage car I've owned has been 51k with the E36 I got in 2004.

I've found the 2.0T B46/B48 to be plenty, especially in day to day use. Honestly, the only time I ever floor it is just simply because I want to, I've never really needed to. Has more than enough power to be fun to drive. Of course, I know the six cylinder has a lot to bring to the table as well.

I never thought I'd jump on the turbo four bandwagon because I honestly can't stand the way four cylinders sound. It gives me indigestion. People like to hate on ASD, but I'm glad my car has it. I don't really notice it and don't know why so many are offended by it, but I can say I like the way the engine sounds. It doesn't really sound like a four cylinder until the revs get high, and even then it doesn't sound that bad.

This car has the unusual combination of being among both the quickest and also most fuel efficient cars I've ever driven. I get 35-36 mpg on trips regularly and have gotten as high as 38.

After further review, I have decided to pass on this car. It has too many problems for having only 6,900 miles.

Front bumper has been repainted due to damage, poorly repainted.
Repainted rear end (further inspection revealed sanding marks under the paint).
Passenger headlight has damage.
All wheels are curbed.
The trunk and rear tail light don't line up properly on the driver's side.
Scuffing to passenger rocker and underside of rear bumper.

The rear painting put me over the top. It's so unfortunate

Oh that bites but you gotta go with your gut. For only 6900 miles, all of that "minor damage" seems very odd and not totally minor.

Yep.

Either someone liked to pop Xanax right before driving, or it was some kid's first car.

Too bad you can’t cross the border. 2017 330iX with 18,000ish miles and good options list for US$20,000-$21,000.

You guys probably get cars with cooler options too. That's a great price by the way.
