My brakes have squealed like mad on and off since I've had my F36, nearly 4 years ago. Drives me nuts. Seems to be more common when they are cold.

Had the pads replaced yesterday at a cost of around £320. They needed replacing anyway. All quiet at mo but fully expect the squeal to come back in a few months.

Squealing brakes are almost always down to cheap pads [not an issue usually on here], or incorrect pad / disc alignment due to the guide pins not being properly lubricated or a sticking caliper piston(s).

Pad material burnt onto the disc due really heavy braking and then quickly sitting with foot on the brakes [e.g. lights] more usually causes juddering rather than squealling.

I had instances of juddering on my previous 535d M Sport after "spirited" backroad driving for many miles and then getting caught at roadworks / lights. But never squealling. Mates cars have had squealling brakes we have fixed them each time greasing pins or releasing pistons [or at least ensuring they moved really easily]

Definitely no chance with the mileage your brakes have done.

Generally my Msport setup has been great and quiet. Have had the odd squeal from them now and its usually only when it's cold/damp for the first few stops. But have noticed a bit of squeal when it's been wet the roads are salted & the car/wheels are pretty filthy. After a wash it settles back with no noise.

My driving is a mix of motorway, A/B roads & very rural lanes.

My car is 3 years old on the original M Sport discs and pads and has never made a noise.

My 440i GC has just developed this problem after 3 years of silence! It went in for its first brake fluid change in December and then we took it on a 2,500 mile trip to Italy and back over Christmas, half way through which the front brakes started to squeal slightly and they've continued doing it ever since. Car's on 22,000 miles, so they are the original pads and discs, but odd that it started doing it not long after the fluid change.
