X3M Competition Discount...

Wow aren't these selling that well?
My local dealer is offering them out with a 20k dealer contribution, and a customer deposit of £549, then £549 a month. Probably other dealers have the same offer on, but that is a massive discount for a new model.

In fact don't worry, found it at my local dealer too, Stratstone like you. It seems I jumped on the X3 M40d bandwagon too soon! Should have waited for quarter 4!!!

That's a ridiculous discount. Almost puts it in reach of Mr. Joe Average.

Just checked insurance, double the excess £1k minimum, and double the premium, cheapest £1k, makes me feel slightly better about my choice!

It puts it right in reach I'd say. As cheap as 440i's over 3 years ago!

I also saw a deal at Slackstones in Leeds yesterday.
X3 40d
£499 deposit
£499 per month. 48 month term 8000 miles pa.
But this was plastered on a X3 40i in their showroom.
Schoolboy error maybe???

That is a massive discount, though it looks like quite a high GFV (35k)

Probably tanked in price since Joe Achilles review. Bottom line ... engine has no low down grunt (like the B58) and needs to be revved its bollocks off!

A diesel or B58 seems far better suited to this heavy beast.

Way too uncomfortable also. Sounds like its trying to be something its not.

Just checked mine, same thing - but my insurance on the 330i is only £300 per annum with a £250 excess. Best I could get without digging too much was £630 with a £600 excess....

Have to say there's a part of me thinks I'd quite like one of these.... eminently do-able. Standard spec looks to tick pretty much every option I'd want/need - I'd want to add a service plan as I'm assuming the M servicing is extortionate.

Please somebody talk me out of this..... before man-maths crosses the event horizon

Well, the ride is pretty firm and you cant actually use the performance much in real life....

But do it if its what you want, even just starting my car gives me a sense of enjoyment that very few cars can.....

As for insurance, in the scheme of things it's still a small cost - £600 extra a year, £50 a month, less than a tank of fuel.... and if it gives you enjoyment....

I'm probably not the right person to ask though, given I am still only at 1700 miles on my car after 2 months and a week, and still think its great value!

I was told BMW don't sell service plans any more?! Not sure if that's right.

My man maths is wondering how much negative equity my X3 M40d is in after 3 weeks!

Even though I didn't love the X4M I had last week, if it costs the same as an X3 M40d, then it is still better.

Probably not as much as my M5 and I put in a 5 figure deposit! Still, its worth it...

Depends where you live, I used the performance plenty last weekend!

It'll be interesting to see if my local dealer will match it.... I very much doubt it but might just ask the question anyway and see where it goes.

£449 pm but with £6K in - must work out roughly the same. Ish. Similar £20K deposit contribution - that's a 26% discount on list. Crazy. I'm presuming they're struggling to shift the M. Probably not helped by the "up to" mpg of 24.8

Also doing decent deals on the M40i as well

That sounds a crazy deal. I'm undecided between about 10 very different cars at the moment, the M340i probably being in the lead currently, but it's hard to look past this deal, particularly as the car has the standard kit I would want.

Anyone know if it can take a towbar (for a bike rack)?

Does it still have the X3's 50cm wading depth?

You can add a towbar on the configurator, so I presume so. Don't know about wading depth though.

The only things that put me off a bit are that pretty much every review says the ride quality is apalling, even in Comfort, the roads in Central Scotland are properly awful - 3rd world is better; and running costs might be a bit hairy - I reckon with even a moderately twitchy right foot you'll be lucky to hit 20mpg on a good day on the commute.

Shit that is so tempting, if you're ready to change that is a superb deal.
