m sport squeaky breaks

had my car with m sport breaks for a month now,
and i have researched and know these breaks do squeak on slow application. mostly when coming to a stop at city traffic.

whats bmw's latest fix. do they replace pads and disc. my front ones are showing 4000 miles to replace, still have warranty so wondering if its worth taking it back to get some new free pads/disc

or dont they bother with a fix now

Welcome to F3x ownership, one of the many faults with them! Both of mine did it almost the entire time I had them!

They changed the pads on the Gxx models, they have sticky pads that hold the pads on the brake pistons. I havenít heard of any foolproof fixes for the Fxx, just clean and liberally apply Ceratec paste which will stop the squealing for a few thousand miles if youíre lucky.

All I can tell you is that I tried all sorts on my old one and the only thing that stopped it was by changing to grooved front discs which clean off the surface of the pads and prevent the squeal.
My current F30 doesn't squeal, but as it has a full BMWSH it probably has current BMW pads, maybe try those first and give everything a clean & grease while you're in there..

But in contrast I fitted grooved discs and they still squealed!

Had the squeal on mine. Pads had about 10k miles left on them. I figured it was something to do with Brake pad compound BMW uses. So took a risk and changed over to Pagid brake pads front and back (total cost at indy £220) 3 months ago. Now silence!

Interesting. It shouldn't be necessary but maybe it would be worth it.

Has anyone ever worked out whether it's the fronts or rears or both that squeal? It always seems to me it's the fronts but that may just be because I'm in the front seat.

In contrast, my 2018 car has never made a sound. Still on the original discs/pads.

It is strange that it doesn't affect some cars. Do you spend a lot of time on motorways?

I have found that if you find a quiet bit of road and then absolutely stand on the brakes from 50+ mph it does seem to cure the problem for a bit.

Must be the stock pads and/or improper installation as far as cleaning and applying the correct amount of grease in the correct areas. I've had different combinations of calipers and rotors on my car, all with Hawk 5.0 pads, and have never had any noise.

Completely the opposite actually. Lots of short local journeys for the most part.

Never had an issue with either of my F30 with M Sport brakes. The biggest killer of the brakes is TFR which these dodgy car washes use by the gallon.
