EDIT: I think the newer Android 9.0 screens with ID7 UI are the way to go if you want the android option; they cost a bit more but probably better in the long run if the performance with the higher resolution display holds up

I've been keeping my eye on some of these Android solutions for a few months now and one of the main things that kept me from purchasing any of them was the lack of laminated screen to reduce glare, haziness, etc. (due to the gap between the glass and the LCD)

I recently came across a screen which actually has a display that looks to be laminated to the glass like OEM BMW displays (and most gadgets these days). Does anyone know who makes it? I happened to find this link where I can configure + order it but I'm not sure if they manufacture it as well; would know if there's a cheaper seller. Seems to have an option for built-in CarPlay without the dongle as well...

I have talked with the seller from aliexpress and the navigation don’t have carplay integrated! The only difference is the screen! Don’t know if it’s worth the difference! Taking in consideration that is 500$ plus 80-90$ shipping!

Yeah, I haven't had luck on aliexpress or some of the other sites either. Seems like if you want guaranteed built in CarPlay, you'll need to order from the link I originally found where you can configure it... Can opt for 4GB RAM, built-in CarPlay and some other stuff which may mean they're the source or, at least, work directly with the source.

I saw one of these a couple weeks ago but for an F20; nice to see an F30 variant. I wonder how the original 1280x480 iDrive interface looks on that 1920x720 screen but I think this is definitely the way to go instead of the dated Android 8.1 units.

Either way, I stopped looking for an Android one since I got my hands on an ID5 NBT EVO recently for a pretty good price and am in the process of retrofitting it to my F30

I’s nice but as DrifterX choose ... it’s starting to cost as much as a nbt evo retrofit!

In my country you can get nbt evo installed for 700-800 euro!
600$ for an android navigation is starting to not worth the money.

The maximum amount i am willing to pay it’s 450$ shipped! The seller from aliexpress didn’t want to go below 500$ so i will probably choose a normal navigation with 8.1 android.

I only need it for carplay! 600$ for carplay is too much!

Side note, I finally installed my ID5/6 NBT EVO unit with CarPlay yesterday. Love the look and feel of iDrive 6 over iDrive 4 - makes the car feel a bit more modern to me after 3.5 years of ownership lol. Integration of CarPlay with the car is awesome as well (especially since it's also wireless CarPlay)

They have three options for the screen:

1) normal
2) black
3) anti-glare

what is in the link above only comes with black screen, not the anti-glare

I'm pretty sure its just software tbh. I mean wifi and bluetooth are integrated and I dont think carplay needs more resources.

But as far as I read the integrated carplay versions have the 6 core processor and not the snapdragon 8 core one. I think the 8 core snapdragon version is better overall. So I might just get it and use a dongle with it lol. I mean you cant see the dongle so who cares as long as its working perfectly like real carplay without dongle.

I have 2013 F30 and am looking for my first 10.2" touchscreen with latest Android, wireless Apple carplay, perhaps also LTE 4g sim slot etc.
