IOS 13 & Carplay

Looks great! I need to do this. What did you use to code it? I currently code with Carly but doesn't have the option. I assume I will need a new coding software.

What are you talking about? CarPlay comes from the phone, not the head unit. There's nothing to code.

Your correct. But user ct335i was able to code his head unit to display Carplay in full screen. Currently BMW limits it to a little more than half the screen due to split screen. You can uncheck split screen but Carplay still looks crammed on iOS 13.

What version of NBTevo did you have? The one add makes it sound like the USB version only works if you have N or O? Did your 2017 come with that installed or did you have to have it upgraded at the dealer?

The carplay activation will it stick when my car software is upgraded to the later date? Or I just plug the USB in again for re-activation?

I have the version P, so for coding I needed RJ45 Ethernet cable vs if you have old version, I believe USB will work. Reach out to seller and he will guide the right software for your car.

CarPlay was ordered with car.

Depending on the update.. if dealer update wipes the coding .. I'm told you can reprogram it back with USB or Ethernet cable. Seller will provide you the software.

I just got my coded few weeks back.

Not sure if it's harder.. but apparently version > P requires RJ5 Ethernet cable and cost is more on seller site. Older version can be coded with USB and half the cost. Take a look at links I shared above.

Oh, I thought you meant coding in general and was confused, because you cannot code CarPlay full screen with version K that I have (hence your comment "cheaper to code K" is not really applicable).

You have to have at least version N to be able to code CarPlay fullscreen.

I understand now -- I have to get the dealer to flash the ECU up to at least N version to do fullscreen.

Had an oil change due and asked them to upgrade the software for NBT2 due to "CarPlay keeps disconnecting randomly" and the guy said "Yeah, they know about it, but the software is coming out soon, so you should wait."

Got the car back and they upgraded NBT to Q. Did the fullscreen carplay update and works great!

Coded full screen carplay on mine, and running the iOS 13 beta. Looks absolutely amazing. I love the full screen in general but the iOS 13 split view (map on left with audio/controls on right) works great. Also love that it no longer quits out of whatever carplay app you have if someone uses your phone. I frequently have someone in the passenger seat using my phone, no longer does the map quit if they exit the map app on my phone!
