New headunit coded to your car with everything online retained would be a better prospect, just swap it out before service/warranty work - this is what I have done on my car.

Hello peeps,
sorry to jump in, I'm considering getting a used 330e (F30, right?) 2016 or 2017 and Carplay is very important for me (for Waze - back on iOS12). It's nearly impossible to find used 330e's with car play and they are often newer and more costly than others. I'd love to code in Carplay after purchase but need to make sure the car I get can support it, can I ask what are the required features for CP to work via coding? Do you need wifi because it's wireless? or can you skip it and connect the phone with a usb cable? Thank you! PS While on the subject, is there a way of getting a 'normal' double din HU like a pioneer? (For sound quality purposes... |

If you put the phone in the cup holder area it will work without a problem. If you get it in front of the steering wheel it might sometimes start having choppy audio

if you have the slightly older system then you have 3 choices, new headunit or a carplay hardware box.

Worst thing, a new firmware might be flashed which might remove Apple Carplay (revert to standard). In that case, you just re-input the code that you got when you activated Carplay

Some solutions automatically backup the factory FSC codes and can be reverted in a similar method to applying Carplay.

While on the subject, is the 2017 S606A Navigation system Business hopeless for carplay/screen mirroring? What ID version does it run?
Thank you |

I have a 2015 BMW with I drive 4. I really want CarPlay with the full screen. I’ve read that if I upgrade the unit with the NBT retrofit, I will lose ConnectedDrive due to imcompatabilty on the telematics side. Is that true? Wibbles seems to be an expert on this. Is my only option for CarPlay and keeping ConnectedDrive to do the MMI unit instead?

go to the map screen and press the options button on the idrive controller and scroll to the bottom of the list and select navigation system version then post a photo of your idrive screen.
