Been researching a lot on here about lowering options. My last 340i I had H&R sport springs on the stock shocks and dampers. I loved the ride height and handling, but the ride quality was extremely rough, constantly bottoming out over even small potholes. I'm looking to avoid that this time around so I want to upgrade the shocks in addition to the springs

I looked into the Koni Dampers plus Eibach springs but I don't think the drop is enough for what I'm looking for. I'm thinking of going with H&R sport sport springs again, but this time with the Bilstein B8's to help with the ride quality. Is it necessary to get the B8's both front and rear? Or can I just do the front?

Those H&R springs are a big drop for an xDrive. You can't put them on without replacing dampers with proper piston travel for a dropped car. The stock dampers will be destroyed.

So no, install all four Bilstein B8 dampers. If you can't afford it, then wait and save. Or use financing options. Realize, that is like hitting an casino ATM machine for more cash. HaHa, It's there to feed an addiction.

Thanks! I'll buy all 4 then. I had stock dampers with the HR springs last time so I'm assuming my dampers got wrecked which is why my ride quality was total trash haha

This is what my 328i xdrive looks like on koni special active struts and eibach springs. The drop is perfect and it rides great. I went through the same thing as you with the H&R springs running super rough. The eibachs paired with koni special active is a great combo for xdrive.

I have Koni Special Actives on my 335i xDrive with Eibach spring kit with F0.8"/R0.6" drops. Perfect combination of handling in curves and smoothly taking care of rough roads. Koni developed the technology with McLaren.
