Updated lighting tracks from AmbientModz

Hey yall!

AmbientModz recently updated their flat style lighting tracks to a new dome style that show more light. These are the tracks you insert into your doors and rear panels to help the LED tracks show more ambient light, more like the newer LCI and even G series.

The new front design is domed like the (new) rear tracks, and definitely shows more light.

The DIY is painfully easy, so more just sharing they are out now than some complicated DIY video.

I would say reach out to the seller.. good guy, talked to him many times and see if you can work something out.

I am interested for my F32.

I live in Canada and it's so expensive! Maybe we can do a group buy?

I ended up buying an 2016 LCI car instead of a 2014. Wondering if the lights on the LCIs are bright enough as is or if this is still a worthwhile upgrade?

these are available on ebay for pretty cheap. takes awhile to be shipped from the uk to usa via usps but it gets here. they are around $65 or so.

have these in my f30, to make them fit the f32 you can order the f32 ones or just cut the insert.

https://www.ebay.com/usr/ambientmodz...72.m2749.l2754

edit, the link above is embedded in the youtube video posted above. I have no issue with the flat ones FYI. you see them at night and it's not overbearing nor super bright like the current 5 series lights. to make it worthwhile and extremely bright, you'd want to upgrade the factory LED strips inside the door, however. I'm not sure of any vendors who offer that option at the moment. If there is interest, i can take. quick video showing what the flat ones look like before and after.

Also running the old flat ones, and they seem to do the job. Would love to see a comparison between the two styles on an f30 if anyone decides to upgrade. Not sure what car was in the video, but I dont have the same curved lighting around the door.

[- danikorea;26338802 - Would love to see the Before and after. the reason why I waited for different sort of product was that the flat ones looked like they are too noticeable during the dayand not really OEM-like. With this newer one, it does make it look more OEM so I was excited. Just that for cursed Canadians, it costs close to a 100 bucks...hard to decide.[-QUOTE-]

I didn't see this request last week. I'll wait for it to get dark out and update this post with daylight, night without "flat tracks" and night with flat tracks later today.

This should give you an idea. The "bright line" one is in a parking garage during the day. The others are outside in pitch black outside. You can see how there isn't a "line" and the inserts make a huge difference. These are the old version just a reminder.

I had the old ones and just switched to the new updated ones. Here's a quick pic comparing the two. The new ones are slightly brighter for sure. However, because of their rounded edge during the day they are more visible.

First pic is old flat ones, second pic is the new style.

Guy that makes these ought to give a hefty discount off the new version for those that wasted their $$ on the old version

Said it b4, and I'll say it again - his 1st version I bought for my F32 were absolute junk

Never would stay in place the entire length and the difference in brightness from oem sure wasn't worth the $65 cost for 2 tiny strips of plastic

In my case it was '5 min to the garbage can'

Not gonna fall for his money making scheme a 2nd time...

I got lucky and trolled ebay and the forums here for months and eventually got good deals. Just took time, patience and luck.

I think they make a huge difference, and is easier and cheaper than ordering new LED units, light tracks and then tearing my doors apart.

But thats just me.

so not much of an improved? does it warrant the extra expense if you have the previous gen? Curious to see if the flex really offers more light brightness then the flat non flex, anyone else have an opinion or pictures...

The improvement is noticeable, but it's not a day and night change in my opinion. I'm still happy I got them though.

For disclosure, even though I have a 2014, I actually updated the lighting module in each door to the part number used in the 2015 and after F30s, since they are brighter than the 2014 and earlier models. So, the difference I see with these tracks may be more pronounced.

Doesn't making the light source visible, completely negate the whole "ambient" thing?

I also bought this overpriced product from AmbientModz.

The end result was pretty neat, I have to admit.
