Looking for some advice on recommendations.

Having to store set of wheels in an out building for a short period of time. Looking to see if anybody has any recommendations for scaring off any would be chiefs. As there is no electricity - it will have to be a battery operated device - appreciate that there are limitations with this; but every little helps.

Battery operated.

You need to subscribe to a cloud service for recording but that's the beauty of it because you need not have a recording device at the location for obvious reasons.

Alternatively you could achieve the same with a Ring doorbell that is battery operated with cloud recording.

AFAIK the Arlo would probably require battery replacement every 3 months. I may be wrong though as it was a user review I read some time ago.

Wireless alarms are plentiful out there. Ones with GSM that will notify your phone or email you a sensor trigger.

The doorbell you could transfer to your home after if you have not one already.

Other ideas. Wheel clamps. One for each wheel as a deterrent.

Store in a secure location e.g. with BMW. Or even with a friend / relative. Could even store in a storage place such as Access, Shurguard etc... and take out their insurance for the appropriate value.

A rather different approach but BMW store both our sets of winter/summer wheels and charge £36 per switch, so the total annual cost for each car is £72, and that includes a mini-valet of the car and as many biscuits as you can eat in 90 minutes

Helpful suggestions - I have no wifi where they will be stored (for short term) - so don't think cameras will work.

Just been having a think - 2 metres of chain and a good padlock and I can stick them all together. I would like to see somebody move all 4 at once!

They can roll quite easily so make sure you don’t chain them together one on top of each other.

Or stick them on the lounge floor with a piece of MDF on top and you have a very stylish coffee table!!

What about something like a Van Vault? Bolt it to the floor of the outbuilding and (if they fit?) with 4 wheels in - shouldn’t be going anywhere

I was thinking along the same lines. Security ring bolted to concrete floor or block wall with security bolts, but have a suitably long and thick steel hawser made (or find online) as it's more difficult to cut through than steel chain.

I put mine in the loft. Bit of a ball ache getting them up though. Takes two people. One in loft and one below. I put a strong strap through the wheel and then hoist them up whilst the person below pushes them up.

Wifi. Get a mifi device, data sim and, battery pack. Will keep it going for at least 3 days depending on the size of the battery. All that said my original thought was... lots and lots of chain with microfibres to avoid scratches. Padlocks are easy to break. I was thinking along the lines of a steering wheel lock. Put the arm through the spokes and lock it. You would need the right size and shape else it wouldn't work of course.

You could do battery opearated alarm and also a dummy cctv camera, which may put people off
