I wish it had a shorter wheel base than the sedan. Like the 6er does vs the 5er.

Since its 0.7 inches longer with the same wheelbase how much has unsprung weight been increased?

I also hope the price percent difference isn't insane like it is in the 6er.

I do applaud BMW for giving the concept a manual though. For a while it seems like they only have been putting automatics/smg/dct into their show cars.

The rear of the coupe is kind of rad.

Lower=less headroom?

Anyone care to offer an informed opinion as to the amount of lost headroom that will accompany the lower, sleeker 4 vs. the 3?

I LOVE the look of this coupe but have a long torso and really don't have headroom to spare on the 3.

Thanks to all.

Are the vents on the side of the 4 series functional?

+1. In terms of how the concept will look when it shifts to production, I think we can garner a lot from: 1) The previously-posted spy pics of the F32, and 2) The 6er, especially around the LED headlights and taillights.

Is the lower roofline not just due to the lower suspension?

Come on guys, even M3's have monster wheel gap. Look for the 4er to return to a proper BMW off-road height at production. My guess is at least 2" higher...

parts above bumpers, perfect
bumpers are too complicated... I can see BMW used some design cues from i8, but to my eye, they do not blend in... hopefully this only stays with the concept.

And the more aggressive rear fenders are all win.

Awesome.

The interior will be the same, essentially, once stripped of all that individual crap. Though I notice the temperature dial is gone - good riddance!

I'm a huge fan of this new style.
Completely agree!

It's going to have full LED headlights like the 6er as an option so I'm sure it's going to have at least had LED turn signals standard.

It's 90% of the production model

Question is how exact and close to this concept will the actual 4 production series be??
This concept model has lots of cool stuff: wide and low stance, perfectly executed H kink, headlights and taillights, matching front and rear bumpers, side rear view mirrors new design, door handles flat with door surface (finally BMW is back to this since E36 cars).
Me not like: interior design in general, engine hood is too high compared to other proportions of the car, side fender air slot position and design.
Would like to see the front fog lights (or whatever they named them) turned on and see what visual lighting effect they give as they are positioned in a very interesting way deep into the bumper.

The interior design shown is some godawful BMW Individual scheme concept.

"Bad Acid Trip" I believe would be an appropriate name for that interior choice. Some sorta ridiculous 70's western braided crap.

Peel off that crap, and you'll see the F30 interior more or less exactly.

I would expect the sheet metal to be pretty much the finished work. I would expect reworking of the lower fascia front and rear to something closer to what they've shown on the F30's already (though probably updated lines and more aggressive), plus some sub-20" wheels.

And probably taller mirrors.

Not sure if those door handles will survive to production, sadly.

Makes you think twice now after seeing those pictures for the new 4. Now I am not sure if I want to order 2013 M3 or just wait for the new 4 to come out???

To me, there appears to be much less distance from the waistline to the roofline when comparing the side by side shots.

I completely agree that the production model will have a more real-world suspension design, though I'm thinking those 20" wheels and tires on the concept also may be over-stuffing the wheel wells to some extent (don't know the tire size).

It's possible that this stance may not be far off from an available lowered "sport" or "MSport" suspension, given that this concept shows MSport-style side skirts, and it just looks more snug due to oversized wheels and tires... But that's admittedly optimistic.

i swear our F30s already look dated. If this thing truly has LED lights and the head lamps will look like that, I may actually switch 'er up !

Bro,

I'm with you! I'm seriously thinking of "upgrading"...I love the front and rear of this car.

This is an excellent change and will definitely take a huge chunk of the market share.

Maybe we should go to the same dealer regarding the trade-in?
