well I know what you gonna say if I tell you I also put $3500 security deposit to lower MF on top of that....
This made it hard to swap the lease if I don't lose a few grand The whole reason behind this is I wanted to lower payment in case I move to a larger house with more mortgage. Now payment is $480 including tax |

I will say that I was in a 430i loaner for a month and it was quite fun to drive around for a few weeks. After awhile though, I grew tired of the long doors and lower egress. Granted, I was using it as a daily commuter to replace my shopped i3 which is small and compact but roomier inside. If it was a weekender like my M3 I probably wouldn't mind at all. To me the GC is the best of both worlds, albeit doesn't look as sporty, but I like 4 door sedans anyway.

I know the extra month payment I tried to reduce is amortized from upfront payment over lease term. so I don't save anything by paying upfront. But it does make my monthly debt looks a little better

If I amortized my down payment to monthly payment and rolled everything into monthly payment (literally zero down), it would be $590 vs $480 right now.
Do you think people who take over my lease is more willing to pay $590 a month than $3000 upfront plus $480 a month? |

However, you've build some risk into your lease with the $3k down payment. Remember that a down payment is merely a pre-payment on your lease responsibility. If the car is totaled or stolen, the insurance company will only pay the value of the car (gap takes care of the rest if any). That means that the cap reduction that you pre-paid as a down was paid by you, not insurance. You have essentially lost most of it, depending on how far down the lease term you are when the car was totaled/stolen. I've done one lease swap before. I would NOT want to pay someone any money to take over a lease unless: 1) I'm paying the returnable MSD, which will lower my payment. 2) The monthly payment was stupid cheap and the cash payment still makes my overall out of pocket low. Overall though, your monthly looks about market correct. But unless you have a very specific configuration that I am looking for I would not want to pay $3k to anyone for a lease swap. Too much risk for a small reward. I'd rather pay an extra $110/mo, which in the case of a lease swap, isn't possible. Who knows though, there are plenty of people out there who don't understand leases and don't mind putting money down.

Debt is debt. You could have just put that $4k in an account and used that to make your payments from. Same thing with less exposure.

I guess I just don't get the appeal of the 4 series (or 6/8 series) coupe. If you're looking for a BMW coupe, the only options are the 1/2 series (or the Supra) IMO. Everything else is bigger and handles worse. If you need 4 doors on the other hand, 3/4 GC are great (and again, anything bigger is mostly pointless); and are arguably better looking than the coupes.

still keep car, don't plan to swap the lease (or not be able to), neither fall in love. I just treat it as a better looking 340, not bad as a commuter, not much excited. I may consider G22 coupe once lease is up (if still no kids). ... life is too short to drive a sedan, isn't it

I love the looks of my F36 430i GC and I don't even have the M sport package. I have friends and family who ride with me so having 4 doors is necessary. I only wish the back windows would go all the way down but it's impossible to do so with a frameless set up. There's just no room for the window to go down all the way down unless you stretch the rear door. That's why the 3 series have that solid rear side glass and vertical window rail.

I prefer the traditional 2 door coupe and frankly loathe BMW's ambitions of "Gran Coupe"-ing everything in their line-up. But the 4-Series GC is pretty much their best looking GC. With the right mods it may grow on you (and that pic here of the White GC with 405 wheels is doing it right).
Digressing a little bit here in Puerto Rico 4 Series Gran Coupe have sold really and are much more common than the 2 door coupe. I don't know official numbers but from what I've informally counted more than anywhere between 66% to 75% of all 4 Series are GC.

I have a 340 and enjoy the heck out it. I know it is my taste, but I like the 4 doors and always have liked the 4 door BMWs. For me the added bonus of 4 doors is that with kids it is easy to get them in and out and I can still drive like speed racer when the kids are dropped off.

everyones opinion is different, I don't like the look and wouldn't buy one. looks like a crossover, and think it's funny they call it a coupe when it has 4 doors.. 5 technically.. sucks, you shoulda stuck it out and got your REAL coupe. hindsight and all that.. how much time is left on your lease?
