well I know what you gonna say if I tell you I also put $3500 security deposit to lower MF on top of that....
This made it hard to swap the lease if I don't lose a few grand
The whole reason behind this is I wanted to lower payment in case I move to a larger house with more mortgage. Now payment is $480 including tax

Looking at what you did... I would have assumed that this was finance loan and not a least.

Los Angeles and Orange County are ripe with 430i coupes. Saw 2 430i's yesterday, and one 440i, which is a little more rare.

I will say that I was in a 430i loaner for a month and it was quite fun to drive around for a few weeks. After awhile though, I grew tired of the long doors and lower egress. Granted, I was using it as a daily commuter to replace my shopped i3 which is small and compact but roomier inside. If it was a weekender like my M3 I probably wouldn't mind at all. To me the GC is the best of both worlds, albeit doesn't look as sporty, but I like 4 door sedans anyway.

You can have the new leaser pay for the MSD. They get it back anyway. MSDs are good, down payments are not good.

I know the extra month payment I tried to reduce is amortized from upfront payment over lease term. so I don't save anything by paying upfront. But it does make my monthly debt looks a little better

If I amortized my down payment to monthly payment and rolled everything into monthly payment (literally zero down), it would be $590 vs $480 right now.
Do you think people who take over my lease is more willing to pay $590 a month than $3000 upfront plus $480 a month?

You don't have that choice. BMW will bill the new leaser the same amount as what you are paying. You will have to ask for the $3k as a payment directly from the new leaser.

However, you've build some risk into your lease with the $3k down payment. Remember that a down payment is merely a pre-payment on your lease responsibility. If the car is totaled or stolen, the insurance company will only pay the value of the car (gap takes care of the rest if any). That means that the cap reduction that you pre-paid as a down was paid by you, not insurance. You have essentially lost most of it, depending on how far down the lease term you are when the car was totaled/stolen.

I've done one lease swap before. I would NOT want to pay someone any money to take over a lease unless:

1) I'm paying the returnable MSD, which will lower my payment.

2) The monthly payment was stupid cheap and the cash payment still makes my overall out of pocket low.

Overall though, your monthly looks about market correct. But unless you have a very specific configuration that I am looking for I would not want to pay $3k to anyone for a lease swap. Too much risk for a small reward. I'd rather pay an extra $110/mo, which in the case of a lease swap, isn't possible. Who knows though, there are plenty of people out there who don't understand leases and don't mind putting money down.

Debt is debt. You could have just put that $4k in an account and used that to make your payments from. Same thing with less exposure.

Keep the car man... least usually 3 years long. Still a beautiful car. Ladies will love the easy access back seat.

I see new 440 GC lease contacts posted on leasehackr forum as low as less than $350 with Zero down for a close to $60k msrp. huge discounts on GC now. made it very hard to find a swap for my $3k down $480 contact. I just found I paid coupe price for a GC which should come with larger discount.

It sucks, but it'll be difficult to get out of it now without taking a hit. We've all been stuck with cars we didn't want. It's not fun. Best of luck in whatever you decide to do. At least, as far as cars to be stuck with, a 435i/440i gc is not a bad one. It could be worse. For many of us, it's the car we chose.

Put it up for swap anyway. Maybe someone is looking for just your combo.

I guess I just don't get the appeal of the 4 series (or 6/8 series) coupe. If you're looking for a BMW coupe, the only options are the 1/2 series (or the Supra) IMO. Everything else is bigger and handles worse. If you need 4 doors on the other hand, 3/4 GC are great (and again, anything bigger is mostly pointless); and are arguably better looking than the coupes.

The hatch-back nature makes the GC a perfect daily driver and the performance is shocking, I'm sure the only gripe you have is the silhouette. Change the wheels, if you can't at this moment then save up for them and perhaps get the vinyl (M-performance) on the side skirts.

There are also more aggressive M-Sport parts that you can fit like diffusers with fins, an aggressive yet subtle front lip, and make sure your interior suits your tastes.

Its not easy being a GC owner, but trust me, 95% of other owners are envying you right now as you drive past them. YOU WILL LOVE IT once it looks the way you want it to.

Here is the Diffuser that makes it look much better!

100% agrees with this . 20 405 wheels - tint - an ever so slight drop...and the car is unique, functional and beautiful. An easy (and at a sensible cost) fix in my opinion.
