Anyone tried 16" rims with standard brakes

Hi,

I burned through my winter tires these past 2 winters and need a new set in the next couple of months. I was thinking about buying a set of dedicated rims and going down from 17" rims to 16" to give the car a better ride quality in the winter and make the winter tire fairly inexpensive to buy, has anyone tried this yet?

Garage List
16" x 7" ET31 should fit. I think euro cars have 16s.

I would just stick to 17" winters. They aren't too much more expensive.
Mine came stock with 18s. I downgraded to 17s for winter and upped to 19s for summer.
