320i M Sport package?

Hey guys, I'm considering leasing a 320i. I read that I can custom order car even if I lease it, that's probably what I'm gonna do. I was wondering if it is possible to custom order a 320i with M Sport and SAT. I know those options are available in Europe for 320i.. In the worst case scenario I'm gonna go for 320i with sport package (or 328i with M sport if I get a good offer )

That's what many 5 series owners say about the 3 series. And the M6 owners say about the M3 owners. It is all relative.

No. It's only available here with the sport package. You might be able to swing getting the SAT, but I don't think so. Forum member Technic had the SAT coded after the fact and bought a paddle shifter steering wheel and had it installed.

I'm sorry, there is just no way of sugar coating the fact that this is an utterly stupid statement. If you want to stand by it and reiterate it over and over and look stupid doing it that certainly is a choice you can make.

Just to clarify - I'm a college student who has been dreaming about Bimmer for many years. Now, working part time, allows me to make my dreams come true. Of course, I'd rather get 335i. But it makes no sense to spend all the money you make on a car. I'm also considering getting the CPO 328i E90.. The last 3er with naturally aspirated inline 6 and hydraulic power steering. The good aspect about getting a new car is the free maintenance, I know it doesn't cover everything but at least something. Maybe you guys can give me an advice?

Don't listen to people like Mike_L. A 320i equipped with the sports package and an after market Stage 1 tune (such as BMS or the pricier Dinan) will give you all the power and driving pleasure of a BMW while saving $$ for something else such as investments or college expenses.

Yeah? Clearly you have no grasp on the differences in driving dynamics between a BMW and Honda/Toyota. In fact, with your apparent affinity to load the car up, maybe you are the one who bought your car for the badge since those fluffy options that the Jalopnik edition skipped are better off on a Honda or Toyota anyway.

The 320i can not be ordered with the M-Sport package. Europe gets many more options than we do in the states. The M-Sport body kit can always be added after the fact for a few grand if that interests you.

With that said, I'm not sure that buying a new BMW when you're a college student and working part time is the most prudent use of your money. There are many other arguably more important things that your money could be better put towards. But, then again, nobody knows your situation better than you. Just speaking from personal experience

I have to agree BIG TIME - you have plenty of time to join the club. Don't bury yourself in debt while working part-time and going to school.

The previous generation E90 has its upsides, including a better quality interior, and superb steering and suspension setups. However, be prepared for steep repair costs if you plan on keeping the car for a while.

I'm not sure if your particular situation, but I know petrol is expensive in Europe. Have you considered this when looking at the thirstier 328?

Get a GTI for now. It's a great all round car. Fun to drive, great engine, tight suspension, DSG or manual transmission, practical hatchback, looks great, interior is better than the F30 in some respects, small and easy to park, free VW maintenance program, all for less money than a 320. Seriously consider it.

Don't worry about Mike_L, he's just become a cantancerous old fart.

The only person you need to satisfy is YOU. The 320i will be a nice starter BMW for you with the sport package.

I'd warn you away from pre-owned. Maintaining a used BMW can be painful. Pay a little more up front and save yourself a lot of heartache on the backend. If you can afford new, get new.

You make a very good point with the GTI. Hell, I almost just got a Golf R myself. The GTI is one of the most fun cars I've ever driven; the 2015 is masterful.

You could load one up very well for around $30K or so.

The 320i with a basic spec is not a luxury car. Nor is it priced like one.

It does however offer RWD, a manual, 4 doors, and a german-engineered sport suspension.

Want a luxury car? Buy a Benz.

The 320I is a good car, especially in ZSP, 6MT configs, however it should be said that there are some other good competitors in and around the 25K-35K price bracket (4 doors, sporty sedans/compacts): VW GTI, Subaru WRX, Focus ST - I'd be taking a good look at those cars too and see if you feel the bimmer is worth the extra chunk of change.
I say this because BMWs have never been a good value proposition and with the F3x generation, this is the case for sure. The 320I offers arguably the best value, but you're still overpaying for the badge. To me this is okay, I love BMWs for some weird reason and can't get them out of my system, but I cannot deny that nowadays a lot of great cars have come out that really question whether the extra cost of the badge is worth it, even to me. Being in college, as I was only 2 years ago, value is important.

A manual transmission isn't a draw. Its antiquated trash. Especially when putting it up against the ZF 8 speed, its a liability.

Besides that a 320i is absolutely priced like a luxury car. $35k, no leather, no Nav, no camera, no HIDs, no nothing. For the same money you can get a Camry XSE, with 6 cylinders, a full compliment of cameras and other electronics, Navi, LED headlights, leather seats and more space. Plus, it will put down better numbers than a 320 in virtually every handing or acceleration test, and be way more reliable. Buying a stripped 320 over one is absolutely buying for the badge.
