40 vs 45
I wanted some advice on tires for 18x8.5 ET 35 front 18x9.5 ET 43 rear. This will be for daily driving; no tracking. Weather is So Cal. I'm trying to balance comfort, performance, and longevity. Tires will most likely be Hankook V12 evo.
The tire sizes I'm contemplating are as follows: SET 1 235x40 18 front 265x35 18 rear SET 2 235x45 18 front <--- doesn't exist 265x40 18 rear I'm sure many have experienced the SET 1 sizes, but has anyone tried the SET 2? Last edited by ƒ°; 04-18-2013 at 04:13 AM.. |

Taller profile tire will give you more tire height for added comfort and a wider contact patch for added performance, it will also fill in the wheel gap better.

You said longevity, v12's arent exactly longevity tires.

There are not a lot of 245/265 solutions. You might as well just go square at that point. Can do 235 with either 265 or 275, or 245 with 275... Matt |

Do you have pictures? That's the setup I was planning on since 245s seem to not match well in height with 265s. Any issue rubbing? I have the sportline so my car is slightly lower, not sure if it's enough to affect anything though.

Pilot super sports will be the best tire you can buy, but if your looking for a cheaper price on tires go with the Sumitomo HTR Z3's in 235 45 18 and 265 40 18 you can find them at tire rack.com

I guess "best" is a very subjective term. A lot of people prefer the Continental DW, which are cheaper and what was suggested to me by a sales rep when I was looking at the Pilot SS. Neither are going to be as good as dedicated track tires, but then again they'll last a lot longer than those tires and be cheaper.

So for the 18" Hankook V12s, these are my 3 size options. I'm most leaning towards Option 2 but I'm hoping the tires don't look too fat on the wheel.
Option 1 (oem) 225x45 front - 25.9" diameter 255x40 rear - 26.0" diameter Option 2 245x40 front - 25.7" diameter 275x35 rear - 25.6" diameter Option 3 235x40 front - 25.4" diameter 265x35 rear - 25.3" diameter Option 4 (fatty) 245x45 front - 26.7" diameter 275x40 rear - 26.7" diameter |
