2014 328xi touring failed timing chain guides
So my timing chain guides failed and the chain jumped timing but not enough to cause damage (i believe). Symptoms are ofcourse crank but no start and loose chain. What are the chances actually that it didnt cause damage and if i can just replace the timing chain and guides? How would i check to make sure? Is it difficult to reset timing?

You have to pull the valve cover and drop the pan to replace the chain and guides, and that's when any other damage will be evident. There are youtube videos on how to do it, it's not a small job by any means.

That part i understand, ive done it on an n54 but never had it jumo timing. Do i need to remove the head to check for damage or is it possible that the valves were not impacted?

The only way to tell if you bent a valve is to do the timing chain job and hope for the best or remove the head and have it pressure checked. |
