Intermitent starter failure
In recent days, sometimes the car only starts on the second attempt.
I had ISTA read the errors and got: 8040B5 Engine start fault during starter operation. No engine speed on activation. 80444D Inside mirror: Undervoltage detected 804970 Seat-belt extender on driver’s side: undervoltage detected 804980 Belt reel unit on front passenger side: undervoltage detected B7F8C3 Connection, headunit CID: No communication ( this last error results from changing the CID with an Android radio). The voltages I receive on ISTA are as follows: Voltage supply: terminal 30F State 14.90 V terminal 15 State 12.00 V terminal 30L1 State 15.00 V terminal 30L2 State 14.90 V (I also measured directly with a multimeter the voltage with the engine off wich is 12.90 V and with engine on which is 15.30 V.). The seat belt undervoltage occurred in January 2023, so it appears to have gone away in the meantime. I don't have any symptoms of a bad battery, as everything works fine. I had the Start-stop activated till the first fail, but no more. It looks like I realy have a faulty starter motor that I need to replace. Any other ideas or help with this problem? Thanks! |
