Hi All.

I'm pretty technically minded having restored cars but revert to forum knowledge here! Just been out for a long drive through the countryside with the air con on. Pulled onto an incline driveway and water seems to be pissing out of the car underneath. As in large quantities not normal levels for air conditioning discharge?

I attach a photo, water is coming out from the under trays, creating metre long patches.

Seems to be too much to me but any ideas? Down in deepest Dorset at the parents so really would rather not have to faff with the garage. There are no under bonnet leaks and radiator level is normal. The car's a 4,000 mile old 430d gran coupe, registered end 2017.

Edit: can't seem to attach a video from my iPhone? Excuse me being a bit dim, will try searching how to do it....

Well, if there is no loss of coolant, it rather leaves the ac as the source. I've seen as much from previous cars I've owned, to the point passers by have pointed out my car 'leaking' in car parks.
To put your mind at rest...
Try picking some up on a paper tissue to see if it's colourless.
If it is, see if some feels non-oily between your fingers which would probably rule out lubricants.

+1

Condensation coming off the condenser but the drain is further back under the car. If you've not noticed it before the sheer amount of 'leaking' water can be alarming.

Indeed it was a bit warm and damp, smelt a bit of damp dog hence me assuming it must be the air con, it was just the volume that surprised my, literally a drip or two a second. Didn't smell of coolant and no oil, no water loss from the cooling system. The dehumidifier element must be amazing to produce that much water, am also a little surprised it seems to have drained to the pan rather than having a direct exit route? Possible something has become dislodged and drains to the wrong bit? I was giving it a lot of beans cross country....

And yes, it was coming out by the tranny hence my original batch of expletives thinking I'd broken something when I first noticed. None of my f10 or f11 or 6 series gran coupes ever chucked out this much.

I wish I could find some water under my car .. I'm getting a little concerned the drain is blocked as I've never seen any under my car at all after using the air con on hot days. My old E90 would leave a nice puddle under there after using the air con though.

Confirmed today it's the air con and no worries, went into the local garage here just to make sure before putting another 500 miles on it and leaving myself stranded in the middle of nowhere at 2am!
