Several months ago, I swapped out my pre-LCI rear incandescent turn signal bulbs to amber LED modules. Personally, I like the amber better than the red. Apparently, there's more than just personal taste that affirms my decision.
https://www.roadandtrack.com/new-car...ers-july-2020/ Side note, I happen to be one of the few BMW drivers who uses my indicators religiously.

I too replaced my rear turn signals with amber and it shines through the red lens as amber perfectly. I like that the tail lights still are all red and amber when signaling.

Awesome! Thanks for sharing. I have red LEDs thinking the ambers wouldn’t shine through as an amber color, but I do prefer the amber color. Is the vehicode the brand you used?

Can you indicate which bulbs you chose, please? Any coding needed? Thanks!

These were the specific ones I got but I see they're not available on Amazon right now. I think if you search for amber P21 LED bulbs, you should be able to find a suitable option. Coded for LED via Bimmercode.

You have to be careful that they're bright enough. I have these in my rear turn signals:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 They're much brighter than the incandescent bubs I replaced. However, the amber version of the same bulb is no brighter than the incandescent. Check the lumens rating before you buy. Also, you can't go by the wattage rating. For instance, if it says '30 watts' it isn't, no LED bulb draws that much. What it really means is that it's roughly equivalent in output to a 30 watt incandescent. |

I switched my US spec pre lci to euro LCI because it just so happened to fit with my orange accents of my car and I'm still not a fan of the switch from amber to red here in the US. :

What's odd is that the superiority of amber tune signals is undisputed. There's no regulation against them in the US, so there's no reason not to have them as in Europe, where they are mandated. When something makes no sense at all there's usually a beancounter behind it.

Amber lenses used to be fairly common, now they're rare. I can't say I love the look of amber lenses, they're a tad too attention getting for my taste, but that's the point.
