Heater help!!

I'm new to a 320d F31 2013. When I 'switch' the ignition on my heater always comes on. Even if it is switched off when the ignition was previously switched off. I cannot find a command anywhere!! Please can anyone help to have the heater off until I want it!!

Thank you

JohnG

PS sorry if wrong section!, I couldn't find a 'heater' section!! I am new!

I read your OP, and as silly as what I am about to say may sound, I just wanted to make sure that you shut off the heater BEFORE you hit the On/Off button on the ignition.

Unless I power down whatever device --radio, a/c etc, prior touching the On/Off ignition button, that particular device/option will ALWAYS be engaged when I power up the next time if I tried to shut it off AFTER hitting the ignition on/off switch.

Sooooo, it may matter when you are hitting that "off" switch for the heater in terms of step by step.

Hope that this helps. If it is still happening, sorry I do not have the answer for you.

Hi, thank you. I think you've explained just fine. It will start again with settings as before it was switched off.
I just wondered if it was poss for all settings to be reset to 'off' during a restart.
I can live with it! It's just getting used to it!

Even if you turn off the heater/ A/C, it will come back on the next time you start your car. That's how the BMW is designed. You'll have to code it to remember the last setting so if you turn it off before shutting off the engine, the next time you start the car, the HVAC will be turned off and vice versa. Hope that helps.
