Where is the front and rear jack point?

I just want to confirm that the front jack point is right in front of the “trap door” body panel where you open to drain the oil...

Looking at the chart and I’m still confused to where is the jack point of the rear since the diagram doesn’t look anything like the underside of my f32....

Thanks for the help

The rear jack point will be the differential.

If you want to confirm the front, remove the plastic underbody shield and make sure.

Gotcha. I'm xDrive so I'm not too sure about RWD. I've used this point for jacking and have had zero issues.

Same on 328i RWD although it's not plastic on mine, fuzzy texture stuff.

Correct, on a RWD car there is a guard there covering that spot up. You are going to want to try and get under there and feel with your hand and maybe try putting some tape to mark an "X" so you know where to go each time after.

That is what I did at least so I'm not guessing each time.

I helped a guy with a DP install who hadn't done much work himself before and he jacked it up in the incorrect spot. Broke all his shields and messed up his steering rack, was not a good time. As you can imagine, he paid a good amount for that mistake.

I just spray paint the front jack point with bright yellow to make it easier to see in low light.

I also have the same fuzzy stuff covering the underbody. What am I trying to feel for? As of right now, the only way for me to fit under the car and remove the underbody panel is to jack up one side of the car and place a jackstand on one of the front corner.

FOr the rear, I read pretty often not to use the rear diff.....however there is a black bar/frame right in front of it, looks like theres alot of clearance for the floorjack to lift there, can that be a jacking point?

I took the under panel off and I assume the yellow circle is where the front jack point is. It’s a black metal frame (pic1)and it looks like it’s perpendicular to the wheels axel, can someone look at the pics and confirm it for me please ? (Blue circle is oil drain plug for reference )

I also notice that the fuzzy under body panel has a hole and slight indention in it and the hole line up exactly to the hole on that black frame in the first pics so I assume it’s a factory indicator of where the jack point is suppose to be (hole and indention)

Last pic is the rear.... I don’t know where the jackpoint is , can someone tell me what color circle is the rear jackpoint ? Thanks

Green circle for rear jack point.

Make sure your jack is placed under the actual housing of diff and not just on the cover.

I’m sorry I don’t know the actual diff housing is...is the green circle the diff housing cover? If so, then do I place the jack a little more behind it?

Yessir, you got it.

Insert jack directly from behind (from center of rear bumper)...

Then youll want to get a side view (from side of car) to see exactly where jack is going to contact the differential.

Slowly raise jack and readjust as necessary making sure to lift the car by the meatiest portion of the diff.

The diff cover is on the back side facing rear bumper so if jack is not inserted "deep enough" under car... then jack would only contact the cover which is dangerous and could break cover off.
