I thought there was an option to tune BM3 from an ipad with an enet cable. Not wirelessly. Is this no longer available? I downloaded bm3 to my ipad and have a lightning adapter to the enet cable but when plugged in it does not see the dme. I've sent an email to protuning freaks but have not heard back yet.

yeah, it's a settings thing. I don't use apple products but I know that's what it is.

On latest iOS, you have to enable Local Network access for tuning apps to be able to see the DME (under Privacy settings). Maybe that’s the issue?

Same issue with my iPhone 13 Pro.

PTF told me it has to do with mfi certification changes in the latest iOS and some lightning to ENET adapters are not working now. They recommended this one to me, which is arriving tomorrow and I’ll try it this weekend: Ethernet Adapter Compatible for iPad,iPhone 11,X,XS,XR,8,7,6 Lighting to RJ45 Ethernet, USB Camera. BTW, my iPad Pro M1 works just fine with the latest iOS via the USB C port using a hub with ENET, so def seems to be a lightning ENET mfi issue.

You can flash with this (takes awhile to connect but when you do it's golden) but I can't log with this (iPhone 13 regular). Shout out to kern417 for posting this on his IG story.

It's the older devices thus far for a direct connection on ios14 or android it seems. Have local access checked off as well.

I’ve been using lightning to ENET and iPhones since the direct hardwire option came out. Never had an issue until now.

Will try the PTF recommended adapter this weekend.

I have tried it with 2 different bmw obd2 to Ethernet cords. If you have one and it works for you, please post it. I'd prefer not to have to carry the laptop around all the time to log.

Just to be clear, the issue being discussed is the lightning to ENET adapter that goes between an iPhone/iPad and one of the OBD/ENET adapters you posted. Some of the older Lightning/ENET adapters are now not working with iOS15, and I posted the Lighting/ENET adapter that PTF recommended to try. I’ll do that this weekend.

Are you saying separately that the OBD/ENET adapters you posted are not working with your laptop?

With the adapter you linked:

I can flash maps but not log via ios15 + iPhone 13.

With the two cords I posted above + Ethernet to usb c adapter, I can flash and log with laptop. Thus if you have a different BMW ODB2 to Ethernet cord than one I posted above and your linked adapter works with flashing + logs, post it so I can do the same

Ah, interesting. I’m guessing the issue lies with the lightning/ENET adapter, but I’ll let you know if my luck is any different!

So my Ipad stays in the car full time and handles my BT Music, Gauges and logging.The thing with these adapters is they can stop working any time apple releases an update. Good to know these work. I keep my phone mounted lower left windshield so I can have the BM3 gauges up while I’m on track, so I’m always looking for the adapters that have longer cords that I can tuck in vs an adapter flying around.

Hopefully the one PTF recommended works for my use case, but I’m not optimistic at this point!

So, the adapter I linked to seems to be working great. Here's a quick 4th gear pull I did earlier today with it and my iPhone: https://www.bootmod3.net/log?id=6199...729b67b25b0e88

I also did a couple of logs just driving around town that were 3min & 5min each, both looked good.

I looked at my OBD/ENET adapter and it is completely unbranded. I got it 4-years ago from Okee at codemycar.com, back before bimmercode or BM3 OBD flashing were even a thing. I've used several different Cat 5/6 cables with it and it has always worked fine via laptop, and now is back to working fine with the new Lightning/ENET adapter.

PS. I also ripped a 7.1 & 7.2s 100-200kph right after this!
