Emma Raducanu

So, what do we think? US Open champion this year? Flash in the pan? Or anyone bold enough to say she might be the next to join Navratilova, Graf, Hingis, Seles, Williams's as an all time great?

I watched one round, to see what she was like, and she's very impressive. Easy to watch the way she just aggressively goes for her shots. So much variety too. Not that I'm any sort of tennis afficionado!

I do hope she wins; what a great response to Piers Morgan that would be.

I think what she has achieved is amazing, and very proud as a Brit of her representing us. I really hope she wins tomorrow, having got up every day surprised and pleased with the news she’s won. And even if she doesn’t win the final it really looks like we have a star in the making and something the younger generation will aspire to.

Saw her in the early rounds of Wimbledon, and myself and my wife were both struck by just how beautifully she strikes the ball - it's almost as if the entire racquet surface is a sweet spot for her. It's just technically stunning to watch. We're both county coaches, and were both mesmerised.
The emotion and pressure got to her in the last 16 there, but it was obvious that she was going to be able to go a long way at some point. But never expected it to be this soon !

Win or lose in the final, this young lady is hopefully going to be around for a long time.

Did well at Wimbledon and even better at the US open currently, good luck to her hope she can continue to just enjoy her tennis, win or lose in the final she's had a great year.

I think she'll win tonight and really hope she does!

It feels like there's a new era about to dawn in the women's game and potentially the same might be about to happen with the men as well. Ok, Djokovic is still the man to beat for now but he probably isn't going to be at the very top for too much longer and I think the rest of the so-called "Big Four" (Federer, Nadal and Murray) are sadly on their way out now. I'll actually be surprised if Federer attempts to return to the main tour after his latest knee operation and if he does I fear it won't end well....

I agree, the time of the Big Four is well and truly over.

Murray will get the odd good run and may get the odd ATP 250 or 500 tournament but I can't see him being at the business end of the Slams anymore.

Federer will struggle to get back from this injury again. He's barely played now for almost 2 years is it? The game has moved on. The young guys will hit him off the court.

Nadal's body is wrecked. I can't see him going any more than another season or two.

Which leaves Djokovic. Not a massive fan of his but can't deny the stats. I can see him going on to 23, possibly 25 Slams by the time he retires. He's so strong mentally against these younger guys.

I hope she does well and can see a good future for her.

As per usual the British media go mad and blow everything out of proportion. I remember Jo Konta getting to a semi and everyone talking like she was going to be the next world number one! That didn't go to well did it?

Well that was awesome! Well done to Raducanu!

Fernandez is such a fighter, and top quality too.

Wonder if this will become one of the great rivalries

A fantastic outcome to a superb match - think we've definitely seen two stars of the future tonight. Just listening to the post-match interviews and both Fernandez and especially Radacanu seem so mature for their ages; nothing has fazed Emma for the whole fortnight, a really remarkable performance!

Wish I could have seen it. Believe it or not, the mainstream broadcast TV here did not carry any matches from the US Open, you could only see it on ESPN via cable or satellite. Not happening as I kicked the local cable company to the kerb when I moved house.

What's seriously funny is that I could watch the finals from Roland Garros and Wimbledon on broadcast TV if I was willing to get out of bed early enough.

What a brilliant match and an amazing performance throughout the tournament from her. She's a real credit to the sport, as is Fernandez.

Incredible that she's done this without all of the tedious drama of semi-final losses and hype over years that we are used to in GB. Just appears, win, win, win, grand slam! And it's not bloody Wimbledon, even better.

It's a wonderful story and what a game from both of them. Keep reading about the records she's broken, staggering stuff.
Her local club is just down the road from me. Played there a few times as a guest years ago. Makes it feel all the more magical.

Fantastic win. Never thought I’d see a British female Grand slam winner in my lifetime. More importantly though, how nice was it to hear an interview with a teenager (or indeed otherwise!) without even one ‘like’. It was a breath of fresh air. Classy young lady all round.
