1st BMW is project car. 430i Convertible
I bought this car to be a project and I'm finding out it is just that. The car was missing the front end when I bought it and I'm trying to found out what options it has for replacements.
I will post some updated photos here of my progress and probably be asking a lot of questions. You can quietly follow along and watch my progress or give me some insight and help me figure out what I'm missing. I also have a post "Does my car have front PDC and LED Headlights?" Missing: Front radiator support (found) Front bumper with everything (found) Headlights (need) Tail lights (found) Rear bumper support (found) Left side mirror (need) Left rocker trim (need) Exhaust Damaged: Trunk lid (found) Rear bumper cover (found) Hood (need) Left fender (found) Last edited by thaddolson; 08-17-2021 at 10:25 PM.. |

Congratulation on your project car. Used parts are hard to find for the front end usually because most cars get smashed at the front.
There are many plastic pieces and ducts at the front. As for the option, google bmw vin decoder and you will get all the options your car came with. Realoem.com is your best friend when it comes down to finding part numbers.

I decoded my VIN and it doesn't tell me what Headlights I need. And I did use Realoem.com to find parts. It says my car is LCI, but I'm not sure. I don't have tail lights and don't know how else to tell.

As I'm waiting for my parts to come in I decided to wrap the car in Satin Black. This is my first time wrapping a car. So far going well. Had some trouble with the trunk lid. Not looking forward to doing the bumpers.

Was missing the front radiator support and replacement just bolted on. No radiator damage. Pictures showed a damaged front bumper, but it was missing parts behind it. They were definitely misleading on the damage it had. Looks as if after accident they then stripped some parts off. Some I knew about some I didn't. I bought it based on pictures. Paid $12,450 |

Received headlights today. I've read here that they need programming. Will these not turn on if I plug them into my car until programed?
I took them out of the box and installed them, but they won't turn on. |

Here are some pics of the headlights that may help you. Mine is a 2020 M Sport version.

Looks like you are missing a rubber strip that runs the length of the front. Can you see it in my pic? If you need some other angles let me know.

Nicely fixed! Good job! Always so impressive to see people do this with own hands.
Nice to see a car saved! Wrap choice (satin black is it?) - eh... not a fan though. Last edited by Tallest; 09-21-2021 at 12:24 PM.. |

Thanks. I've had mixed emotions during the process. It is Satin wrap. Car was originally black so I didn't want to do a dramatic color change. It was choice of Satin black or Gunmetal and the wife won with Satin black.
