ML = machine learning (I guess?) When you say you work with AI systems what does that mean, you're a user or a developer, and what makes your system AI as distinct from ML? As seem you to be a bit agitated about this, I'm asking genuinely if that helps.....

AI as a term has been entirely misused. MCAS merely sounds like a system that takes inputs and does actions. It may have some machine learning (ie adapting algorithms to improve how it works) but given the system was broken by lack of input from the single sensor, it seems to be a fairly basic system. |

Well even though we were due on a TUI Airways 737 800 on the 4th May, the grounding of the max 8 has indeed had an impact. They have obviously repurposed our plane elsewhere as we are now being shoved on a Titan Airways charter replacement instead, email received today.
Anyone got any experience of them? The missus is already making me look at alternative flights! |

You may be lucky enough to get a 757 which would be a direct replacement for a 737 800. |

"Boeing has admitted that it knew about a problem with its 737 Max jets a year before the aircraft was involved in two fatal accidents, but took no action."
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-48174797 Can't say I'm in the least bit surprised.

I doubt anyone will be prosecuted or jailed over this scandal.

Ok so we now have the answer. Our return flight was Titan. An Airbus A320.
It was pretty faultless, decent leg room, immaculately dressed and pleasant staff. Full drinks and snack service, onboard WiFi entertainment. My missus is fussy (not the happiest of flyers) and neither of us could fault a thing. Sadly the same could not be said of the utter tosspots that run Gatwick. 30 mins in the family queue to get through passport control (very glad I wasn't in the non eu queue which was 15 times as long!), no problem you think, straight to baggage jobs a good un cases will be there, except it took them 1h30m from landing to get the cases onto a carousel all the time watching flights land after us getting them out straight away. Apologised on the tannoy but with no reason why. Titan = great. Gatwick = shite. |
