How much will this cost.

14,000Nm (not a type error)
7 seats
4 motors
0-60 3s
410 mile range
Greater specs than pretty much all RRS

It's insane.

$65k for the entry R1S.

I like it, albeit in more of a concept car kind of way rather than wanting to own one. Lots of clever ideas, imaginative packaging/practical touches, and I actually like the way it looks. It wouldn't go down the country lane I use to avoid the queue to get on the M1 though

You’ll have had 6 more cars before this thing lands in the U.K., if it ever does.

Targeting US first in 2021, then probable, but not definite, launch into Europe and maybe U.K. could happen in 2022.

And that was pre Covid timelines, unless there are newer reports out there.

I do quite like it in a weird way, I’m just not convinced we’ll ever see it. So for now I’m going to exit and forget about it.

Love that. Have been following Rivian with anticipation for a couple of years. Very credible people behind it.

The problem here might be that the SUV is full size US, not full size euro.

Need to find time to watch the video, cheers Chris

Yes, love it. Been looking forward to the R1S for some time. Next family car will probably be a Tesla Y, then after that hopefully Rivian will have landed.

If it's available to order in time for 1Q22 delivery then it'll be next, but very much doubt it...

It is shorter than an X7 but less than an X5 bit it might be pretty wide too.

Shaping up very nicely indeed IMO

Sounds the perfect size then

I'm just one lottery win away from replacing the Disco when they launch the R1S. It's not lost any appeal for me since I first saw it. They could clean up with this thing.

I really like that. SUV not pickup, but to my eyes that's a great combination of space, real-world resilient materials, huge space and a range that busts all but the most extreme anxiety fears.

Will be interesting to see how $65K (after eco discount) in the US translates to a UK price point.

I’d bet my last pound we’ll never see it here. I’d buy one if I had the means and it did turn up though. Although if I’ve staked my last pound on it not coming I guess I won’t have the means.

I quite like that. Not sure about the 'stadium lights', probably get use to it though. Much better looking than Tesla Cybertruck.

I've been watching that. It seems a tough old thing. Not much mention of the sort of issues that the bikes have with their range.

Yeah, although I think they're trying to focus on the bikes in terms of screen time

Quite like the look of the Rivian, although no doubt UK prices would be approaching north of £80k

Finally watched the full video. They've really gone to another level in leveraging the benefits of electric for both on- and off-road use.

Not the biggest fan of the "face" but that's a really minor point.

Can't wait to see one in the metal. Genuinely the most interesting new vehicle in many years, for me.

Between Lucid and Rivian, the EV market suddenly gets fascinating. Perhaps the biggest step change since the Model S launched (imho).

Agreed, there's quite a bit more insight into the product in these vidoes than others I've seen.

Agree on the face, not ideal but not terrible to me.

Genuinely the first EV to create that real 'appeal' for me. I followed the Pre-Order links but its US only otherwise I'd be on that list. Also contacted in IG but just marketing response thus far.

I KNOW Tesla are battery/EV engineering excellence but I can't get over their looks.

Anyway, first step, lets see how real 'End of 2020' is for customer deliveries in the US.

I followed the same pre-order link

As you say, first EV with real appeal. I wanted to love the model X, but even if I could forgive the looks (and I could), I could not get past the interior experience at that price level. And the feeling that they could have fixed a lot of that, if only they hadn't made a decision to put silly doors on it. I will always take quality over look-at-me bling.

If the model X looked something like this inside and out (even without all of the extra ability) then maybe i would have one and not a D5 🦖

US configurator about to go live for Pre Order customers and then later in November in general.

US pricing R1S £94,000 and R1T £90,000 before options.

Cutting edge costs there. By the time U.K. conversion ad trade war taxes are applied must be north of £100k here. Maybe at least a year to even confirm when coming then pricing.

Large, premium, powerful, fast, top of its class (perhaps briefly).

It was never going to be cheap.

Still a desirable package though.
