In the 50k range, I would definitely look into a true M performance car, considerably an F80 M3 or E90 M3. However the preventative maintenance (crank hub, rod bearings) from both of these vehicles have driven me towards the 340i I currently own today.

I want an M3 but the prices are still so overinflated plus extra insurance cost and gas expense. Not that I am selling anytime soon. Just wondering...
If we talking non BMW then a 370z, but since this is my first BMW and i now only want BMW, an e30 M3

Currently in a 2013 328 and considering trading for an Audi s5 but can't get over how an m sport looks a lot more aggressive than the s5 (IMO). So going back and forth if I want to stay with the current f30 and wait a couple more years until I can get my hands on a used g20 or 440 f32. Also considering a Ford Focus ST and VW golf for a daily

Ah, interesting question! I'd probably be driving an Alfa Romeo Giulia if I didn't have my 320i. But after having owned a 3-Series and test driven a Giulia, the interior on the BMW is leagues better! And there's more legroom in the rear! (Okay, maybe I'd still have an F30 but the Alfa is a close second!)

Way out of left field I know - but if we stretch the budget very slightly it'd be a Jag F Type R.

These are the posts I love when BMW guys wail about BMW losing its touch re: driving dynamics and feel.

Their customers do in fact care more about soft touch plastics around their ankles rather than outright driving bliss.

The (pre-LCI) F30 and G20 are proof positive of this compared to the EXx series.

I wish I could find it, but I think it was Road & Track who said that BMW never made a 3-series that handled as well as the current Giulia.

You are absolutely correct! The Guilia drove great and kept on pulling (even with the 4-cylinder). However, the 3-Series interior has more quality in terms of materials, fit, and finish. For that reason I would take the BMW unless the Alfa was advantageous price-wise.

The part I like the best is that I can tune my engine to match the output of the Alfa (or any tuned 328i) and there are mods you can do to improve handling feel (such as anti-roll bars) and most importantly, good tires.

I really want to like the Tacoma, but it has too many faults these days.

Naturally aspirated, ancient V6 is a gas hog and totally inadequate at elevation (my house sits at 6200'). I borrowed a friend's TRD Offroad to return about 600lbs of tile to a shop, and it literally would not get out of its own way. I had to floor the thing to get off the line.

The 6AT is horribly programmed and constantly hunting gears, to the point where diff slippage/whine is commonplace.

Since they've moved the production to Mexico, a lot of Taco guys have started reporting quality issues with sensors, switches, etc.
Guess it's a good thing I drive an F30, then, sheeeet.

I was in a Subaru BRZ before I got my 340i. But honestly I really would have loved to get a '14-17 Audi S4. Love love love the supercharger whine. Interior leather is super nice too.

I love my F30 but I would really like to get Tesla Model S one day. Especially for the autonomous driving feature when I need to get home after a whole week and I just want to relax.

I love so many different types of vehicles, it would be (and has been) hard to choose.

Ideally: Jeep Wrangler Rubicon JLU
Wishfully: Tesla Model S
Possibly: Audi TT
Realistically: 16-18 Camaro 2LT or 18+ Mustang EBP

Wildly different options

Was gonna buy a fully-equipped manual Golf Sportswagen 4motion though it got sold before I could check it out.

My second pick was the F31 I currently own. Really wanted a wagon lol

One brand I never see mentioned in these kinds of lists is Volvo. Auto enthusiasts dont seem to be interested, Consumer Reports doesn't show any love for the brand, yet sales seem to always be high in my obervation. Prices are on the German level.

They are the most off-road capable factory truck on the market, but I think most of them never see dirt. The 2nd Gen is also pretty quick for such a large/heavy vehicle, but the Ram TRX just blew past it with a 700HP factory offering.

Personally, I enjoy mobbing mine on dirt roads/trails/sand dunes...

There really is nothing like a BMW Touring.

Since they aren’t bringing g31, guess I’m sticking f31 for life.
