NBT Evo Retrofit
Hiya,
Hope someone can help. I have retrofitted an NBT Evo into my late 2014 F30 and it randomly reboots. mainly on long journeys 1.5hrs and above but sometimes rarely after 5mins If im switching between menus. I believe there is a known issue when running these units on ID5 or ID6 as they were originally intended for ID4. Is there a fix other than riskily flashing back to ID4? Regards, Ricky. |

The older ID4 units only have 2GB of memory, while the newer units have 4GB, this is what is causing the reboots.
The memory is directly soldered to the board, so it's not easily updated. I have read of one person who updated the memory to a 4GB, I don't know if that was successful or not. He said that the unit still reported having 2GB, but I don't know if that was a reporting issue, or if the unit would only address 2 GB of the chip.

I could close it but I feel doing so would be a victory for the thieves.... |

Any update on this?
I have a NBT Evo ID4 HU which I have used in my former car. Now I have a new F34 with Entrynav2 and am thinking about to install my NBT Evo HU. Only due to optical reasons it would be interesting to have ID6. As my HU has 2GB I´d not do it without any updates due to the reboot issues. Are there meanwhile any coding solutions to avoid such issues? Or what about soldering in a 4GB chip by someone who can handle SMD? |
