Parking Brake Cable clip diy anyone?
Hello, my 2015 335i started to produce a metallic grinding noise eminating from the rear portion of the transmission tunnel coming up throught the center console. The dealer found the parking brake clip #34-40-6-854-898 to be broken. This allows the cables to make contact with the drive shaft usually during hard acceleration (highway on ramps etc). The qoute to replace the clip was $779.00. The book rate was roughly 3.5 hours and the clip is about $10.00.
I declined the service and went over to the parts department and picked up the part for $11.40 including tax. Apparently the fuel tank has to be either removed, or at least dropped down a few inches to access the clip. The F30 Ultimate DIY guide does not list this procedure, nor does a search pull up anything relating to this task. Anybody attempt this or have any input on this procedure? Thanks, Bill Update... a Google search produced this link which is on our forum. https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...php?p=24174060 Any feedback before I attempt this is appreciated.
