Question i know i might be far off in thread but id thought id ask anyway i currently have the hu_entry nav i believe w the 6.5 went ahead and purchased the ( nbt hu ) i was told it should work well since im getting the unit and the 8.8 lci i got power only issue im having is im not getting audio
Below i provided what i have currently plugged in the green i honestly had to force in although it was forced it fit well and and white i wasnt able to but i also read that the white is supposed to be for video but as you can see theres two slots there where in my previous unit it was only a white . If anyone has any solutions please lmk asap

BTW I assume larger touch display e.g. 10.25 from 5 series also might work

Hi. Why would you do that? The evo displays are a lot easier to come by and are cheaper. The evo displays are also less bluish and more bright.
Not sure why would you complicate your life like this. If you have the evo headunit so ID5/6/7 you should be fine.
All the screens that you will find on realoem when you fake that your car has the pronav, will be the evo displays.
If you have a nbt only unit, then you have to search for a lot older 8.8" screens, and they will NOT popup if you search for your car...

Mate, be very careful with realoem.
Let me explain. If you key in your car, then realoem will show you the 8.8" displays that were fitted in your car, however it will assume that you would have the pronav headunit! Between 2016-2017 they were putting different headunit for business nav and pro nav. Which you obviously do not have. This is the main reason why there are so many people buying wrong screens coding shows blank screen and it does not work

The only reliable way to figure out what screen you need is to look at your current one and look at your headunit.

If your screen is L7 MID, then you need L7 HIGH screen. You will most probably have a magneti marreli headunit.
If your screen will say LK MID then you need a LK HIGH, you will most probably have a harman unit.

The L7 is pre lci and LK is lci and they have different voltage.

Between 2016-2017 there is a ton of different units, it is a minefield.

So be careful.

Hi. I believe the white one is the armrest usb. And I know also that the older white usb FAKRA plug does not fit the new one. There are guides out there that tell you to cut some of the ridges off the plug with Stanley knife. Then it will fit in the socket. But be careful to plug it then. The main reason for the ridges is that the plug and socket are aligned.
In regards to the audio. I do not have a clue. The fibre cables are audio, you sure they are well in? Also in the armrest you have aux as well, not sure this is the same cable but perhaps try again when you sort out the white plug.

The dimness of the new screen continued to bug me plus I noticed what appeared to be an amber tinted anti-glare coating that made Google Maps in Android Auto look terrible and any white font and other screen elements look yellowish.

I used Novus plastic polish (https://www.amazon.com/Novus-7100-Pl...s%2C914&sr=8-5) to buff off the anti-glare coating and the screen is noticeably brighter now and so far I haven't had any issues seeing the screen in bright sunlight.

I have looked on the internet for some aftermarket solutions to update the head unit for my F30 2012, but I'm not sure what it's compatible with my car.

I'm not looking for some special features, just music playback over Bluetooth and Android Auto (wireless would be appreciated).

Can someone recommend me something that worked and can be bought from Aliexpress somewhere in EU

What is the date on the screen?
Blank screen is usually wrong voltage.

I am not familiar with 4 series screens but in 1 series it is a minefield and I did a lot of research about it to make sure I get the right screen.

I may suspect you bought a wrong screen. As I said, check the date on it. If it is well past 2014, then there is a food chance it is wrong.

The screen should be manufactured ideally before the car was.

Hi, check Bimmersupplies.nl
He has same mmis for android auto as bimmertech but cheaper, and he has other solutions too. Ask him if there is something compatible for you.
Also you may want to look at a android screen. This will give you android auto and leave your oem system alone working in the background.
There is a lot of options and many will not work on your car as it is older.

Yeah I am pretty sure the screen does not fit.
Just as a example from my screen hunt:

My car is from 06/2016, last month of a production line. And it is the first lci.
from that year around +/- a year people reported very mixed results. Everyone here used realoem to choose a screen and there was a list flying around, despite that many were not successful, even when I asked on ebay why they selling, answer was wrong screen bought. Or if a car shop was the seller they always told me it is a evo screen, despite it being on realoem as fitting. I wrote this before, realoem will give you a list of screens but assuming you have pro nav and a appropriate head unit, that you do not have.
Eventually I looked at my current screen and current head unit. This gave me a clue and I knew I needed to look for a lot older 8.8" screens. Eventually I got it right.
I do not want to be too long, I can PM you if you want with more info...
Also even Bimmertech once told me that the screen manufacture date must the around the same or earlier as your car. A bit of a thin advice but seems correct. Though for me it was only half correct, for you as your car is 2014 should be sound...

I want to have it like this: Left side entertainment details / right side map.

Hi. I do mot think that goes. Only thing you can get on the right is the detailed directions, that arrow view on junctions. Not the map itself. But check it. If you go to the options of the split screen, you can check what you want to have there. But if I remember well if you pit navigation you get the arrows there.
I installed apple CarPlay mmi last week and the built in maps are gone for me.

Today I've successfully swapped my 6.5" screen (6837128) to a 8.8" TOUCH screen (8709339)!

That's what I've coded (using BimmerCode):

• 3005 DISPLAY_PIP_CONFIG > CID_DISPLAY_RES = 1280_480
• 3005 DISPLAY_PIP_CONFIG > CID_DISPLAY_SIZE = 8_8
• 3001 DISPLAY_VARIANTE = breites_display
• 3006 NAVIGATION > DISPLAY_SIZE_RESOLUTION = 8.8_1280x480
• 3005 DISPLAY_PIP_CONFIG > CID_TOUCH = aktiv
• 300B TOUCH_COMMAND > CID_HMI_TOUCH = aktiv
