MAF sensor plug clip broke

Installed Agency Power Intake today, however when I was removing the harness from the MAF sensor the clip came out completely, when i tried to push it back in the clip snapped. I've tried searching google and ebay but haven't found anything apart from the whole wiring harness which is $300.

if anyone has any info on where I can source the clip?

I've broken a few different clips on mine. So fragile they are. As long as they are tight, need not to worry.

I feel ya. I'm OCD about things like this, but luckily I forgot. Not anymore! I'm going to have replace mine now.

Did you end up finding a replacement? Fortunately where I live there are plenty of totaled B58 BMW so I'll probably buy one from a for-parts bimmer.

I was changing the air filter and cleaning the airbox and the clip flew back fell in the engine bay where it vanished.

I was able to go through the dealership to get a replacement harness clip and locking mechanism. Initially they said they didn't have one but I pushed them to keep looking. It was like $35 which was outrageous for what it is but it worked. It has the plastic bits and all these tiny plastic barrels you have to thread the wires through. It's pretty delicate surgery to do it correctly but it was worth it for me.
Note: for me it was my wastegate position sensor that was broken but I imagine they could get the MAF one as well.

Thanks. I just want the little gray locking clip though lol. The actual harness plug connector is fine and clicked in nicely. I don't think I need it. Was willing to spend a few dollars just because I like things done well (to a fault maybe)

Called the dealer and explained but the part number they gave of 12527615491 doesn't come up with much pictures and seems like it's what in one of the plugs.

Mine is broken too.

My question is. How easy/difficult is it to replace the plug? I've broken a bit of the black part that holds the grey clip in. It fits in tight and locks and works fine. But I'm OCD and want to replace the plug with no broken tab. I was wondering if it is a DIY or if a local workshop could do it for me.

Edit - Part that is broken is the part I've circled in red. It broke when I used a plier to try to lift up the locking tab beneath the grey clip. But it was dark and I couldn't see it and tried lifting the wrong part. That's how it broke. I'm looking at replacing the entire plug but not sure if its possible.

Ahh. I thought only the grey clip part was broken. How much did they charge for labor? I'm scared to ask my dealer here since they'll want $50 for the plug and $500 for labor

I think I paid like $35 for the replacement plug assembly and I did the surgery myself. I was able to disassemble the broken plug part way and then use the new housing without having to fully disassemble every wire, which would have been much more difficult.

Ahhh. I thought of buying a plug from BMS for the 3.5bar sensor since it looks like the same plug and doing it myself. But I'm not sure I'm capable of pulling it off.

If I do, I will. I'll check my plug out in a few days. Looks like it'll break off and I won't be able to use the grey tab. If so, I can post it to you.

Grey lock, or black clip? The grey lock is "optional". It just 100% prevents the connector from dislodging. Black is required since it keeps the connector together.

Mine is the black one that's broken. The grey one is ok.

Nope. I haven't gotten it fixed. In my car, it didn't break off completely. Still clips into place perfectly. I totally forgot about it till I got this notification today

Luckily mine also still clips into place and only comes off if you pull it with a good amount of force so I will also probably just forgot out it.

You would need to find some place that sells that connector to swap it (that can be a bit of a ughhh moment though).

My plan "b" suggestion would be get that adhesive lined heat shrink (has hot melt glue inside) and slide it over the connector end and MAF plug to "glue & secure" into place.

Could you guide me on how to properly remove this plug without breaking it? I’m trying to remove the one on the wastegate (probably same as you) without breaking it and ending up in the same boat as you guys. I’ve tried pushing and pulling and just about breaking my thumb trying to push the grey part towards the wire. Aaaaand now it’s 2am and I’m posting here lol

In my car, the Watergate plug is the easiest to remove.
What I do for the wastegate connector is use a small flat head screw driver to place it in the gap between the grey tab and black lock and twist it to unlock the grey tab (because it is tight as hell in my car). Once the grey tab is unlocked, I push the entire plug slightly forwards (like how you would push it if you want to lock the connector in place if it was disconnected) and then push down on the unlocked grey tab and wiggle the plug out.
Using a screw driver can be difficult since the waste gate connector is deep enough in the engine bay and there isn't enough space to use a screw driver like we have to for the other map and tmap connectors.
