2013 F30 335i Pre-LCI LED Headlight Retrofit
Did anyone do it? Any links to parts? Any information at all? I found information on this forum but not too concrete or any solid information as the thread was super old so wondering if anyone did any LED Headlight mods on their F30? Adaptive or not? Cost? Coding?

From what I’ve read the led headlights aren’t that great with most people stating that xenons are better?

The adaptive HIDs are far better than any of the LED headlights. If you want to change anything out, change out the tail lights which are pretty cheap looking on pre-LCI. Also, get a good pair of LED amber turn signal bulbs for the front. It'll get rid of the orange shadow and will look almost as good as stock LED turn signals.

I've had/have both. LEDs look nicer, but they perform the same. The non adaptive LEDs are trash though

So it's pretty much personal thing where you either like the one or the other but if it's adaptive then both are nice, makes sense. Thank you

I used this for rear turn signals and brake lights (RED only). Don't buy amber for rear turn signals even though people say you can. Using amber bulbs in red lenses reduces output by about 50%. $30/pair http://www.jdmastar.com/product/90/3...-Set-of-2.html I used this for front turn signals $32/pair: http://www.jdmastar.com/product/93/3...-Set-of-2.html Fronts are 7507 which have a slight offset pin connector on the base. I also got some reverse LEDs from them but those don't have to be super bright so it's not as big a deal. |

Actually, the adaptive LED headlights received a "Marginal" rating by the IIHS. The normal LED headlights received a "Poor" rating. And the old HIDs were rated Adequate or Good. All LEDs underperform compared to the adaptive HID headlights. There's a noticeable difference when you drive them back to back. https://www.iihs.org/iihs/ratings/ve...oor-sedan/2016 |
