What are the odds?

I go to my local dealership to show him proof of payments. The salesman isn't there and I'm told he's gone to collect a car. (EB2 420D M Sport)

I'm told to wait 5 minutes as he has gone to coincidentally collect my car. He drives in and I go to the car and what do I see .... bird shirt (pardon my french) across the driver door. What are the odds of that? I don't think most people are even there when there car physically arrives so I'm guessing they would have got rid of it and I would have been none the wiser.

Funny thing is I wasn't even that annoyed as I thought I would be. It looked fairly fresh so I am guessing it had just happened. Sods law I suppose. Overall still over the moon. New car day tomorrow. Neither me or the salesman mentioned the "elephant in the room".

Upon picking my new car up I had taken it to a Detailer the day after.

Upon doing a full inspection of the paint he had found where bird shit had laid to rest on the bonnet for quite a long period of time!

Calling up the dealer I had made it clear the bonnet had to be resprayed. They had don't the repairs 6 weeks after collection. I asked how much they charged for the work and it was the best part of £700!!.

If their is any mark on the paintwork I would certainly advise taking similar steps mate!

I picked mine up dirty and there was bird sh*t in several places, it's to be expected I think. Made no marks when I stripped it, the clear coat was fine. The car had a wax on it on delivery as it beaded water before I stripped it all off. If it has etched the clear coat it should polish out just fine.

Etching from bird crap should machine out no problem, would prefer that to a respray of the bonnet!

Clear coat was damaged to the point that over time (upon being machine polished by a Detailer) the laquer had continued to rise as water crept beneath it.

I'd take a respray any day as as a couple of stone chips were present after 6 weeks which disappeared once back from Ridgeways Bodyshop.
