ID5 was introduced at factory changeover in summer 2016 iirc, my August 2016 build was one of the first. Prior to July 16 would be ID4. Then ID6 was either from LCI (spring 17) or after the summer break again.

Yeah, a note 8 was the last Android I ran alongside an iPhone 7. Ended up using the proper phone for most things despite the much better screen on the Samsung. Android BT connection to ID5 is like stepping back a decade or two, proper phone is the way to go.

Got the car back after 3 days in with BMW.
All sorted 👍 Now another little niggle that I didnt get round to messing with before giving the car back to be fixed. I have 'no connection' on the iDrive, it just won't use my mobile Internet at all. Is this normal? Any idea how to fix or who to contact. The salesman got a tech guy to have a look while I was there but he didnt know and told me just to call the number on the iDrive system. Any ideas? |

The app? Or on the iDrive?
Sorry for sounding thick but I'm currently a little confused by all this lol Internet subscription services - do I need to pay for this? I thought it used the mobile data from my phone |

Ok thanks, it's all starting to make some sense.
Is it worth having these things? I have an android so can't really do anything at the moment even playing music is a pain in the a*** |

Maybe...My car is only 9 months old with Pro-Nav so it's got all the bells and whistles. Not sure how many of those things I would pay for. Do I really need the news and weather, and although I have emails I never read or send them in the car. I do like the Real Time Traffic Info and the 'over the air map updates' and the online voice processing but not sure if I would pay the £159 per year for the package.

Hmmm,
OK, maybe I just live without these things. Bit annoyed (as many are that I've read) about the android connectivity, pretty poor show on bmw. Guess I should have done some more research. I had planned to use an old ipad mini and hide it in the car and use my phone to teather a connection but it also seems that I can only use Spotify (I got it to load spotify on the iDrive) but I use amazon music and that apparently doesn't work (according to the techy at bmw today) Hopefully someone can correct me and tell me how to get amazon music on the iDrive (happy to use an apple product if it works) |
