Currently we are both with BT for mobile SIMs

Trouble is we cant get a signal at home and BT don't offer Wi-Fi calling or a signal box. This means that we cant make or receive calls at home.

Given I am at home 80% of the time BT have to go.

3 have a decent plan for £9 a month and offer Wi-Fi calling and a signal box so look good but not sure about the coverage or service.

Anyone able to offer advice or another option/supplier

Only need 2GB data and the usual calls/text

Who can you get at home A ok?

I can only get Vodafone at home so am stuck with them - but more recently they have been ok and delivering VFM.

We cant get any provider at home. This is why Wi-Fi calling is important and a signal box

Buy an EE box, perhaps off eBay and that'll cover your BT signal. I have a work supplied BT signal extender (BT business mobile though) and it's identical to EEs version. Perfect EE & BT 3G throughout the house.

EE WiFi calling doesn't need an EE router, just a WiFi connection.

I have s few SIM-only plans on my company account and they're very cost-effective. 10Gb data, unlimited calls (01, 02, 03, 07, 0800) and unlimited texts for £14/month.

If you take an O2 business contract, they will provide you with a signal booster at home.

Bear in mind you can just rock up to the O2 store and say you are a sole trader, they literally don't care who goes on business vs personal.

When we moved to our latest place the signal was non existent. The signal booster once set up gives you full beans and you don't have to do anything - it's just done and there.

Three are very reluctant to ship out signal boxes as they now support wifi calling, worth checking with them before committing.

I was told that they are registered to your home so buying one off ebay wont work as its not registered there.

That's half true. They're registered to the address so they can provide the location to the emergency services when you dial 999, they will still work anywhere though.

Unfortunately BT don't do Wi-Fi assist, they are shite.

Get a pay as you go sim card from each company (free from most) and see which provider has the best signal.

Worth checking with any of these companies what they charge for data if you go over your allowance. Our BT mobile sims for example charge excess data at £100 per GB (10p per MB) which is totally insane! It wouldn’t take long to use a GB if you were streaming an HD video or UHD and it dropped off Wi-fi.

We have enabled spend limits of £5 on both sims so we can avoid falling into that particular trap. That’s the only negative with BT mobile that I have found so far.

We have Ee and use the WiFi calling and think it’s crap tbh. Ok if your sitting still but I fidget on the phone and just cuts out.

My work phone is Voda and 100 times better.

I find not only is EE wifi calling crap but also EE call quality in general, always getting dropped calls and cutting out! Think I’ll change to Vodafone next time.

Only problem is I think EE’s data reception (3G/4G) outside cities/towns is better than Vodafone isn’t it?
