It still works as long as the new one is faster, noisier, better equipped or whatever than the last one..... Go on, you know you want to! |

15,500 today...as I made a service.
Aside for 1200 RIS I'm not certain what car I last took for a service. It was amazing, I got new oil and that was about it. Dull actually. Why do you do this. Pleased that my request for no washing was needed and the car is still filthy but Ceramic coating intact. Next step new rears, now down to 3mm so changing very soon. I'm going to smash the 12 month barrier, new tyres, the futures bright.

If you think a service is boring (coffee and candy), wait for how bad buying tyres is (no coffee, no candy).

Update.
Well I am going or make 20,000 miles in a car for the first time in about 6/7 years! Currently on 18,000 and going well. A few notes:- Wireless. G01 Wireless charging is pants. Well in my car it is. Shame on me for not taking it into the dealers to resolve. Phone works fine in other cars, just intermittently goes orange in the X3. Tyres. Seriously consider the 20 wheel option. As Teaston says many times there are barely any options for the 21s. A wheel refurb costs a bit too, £200 for a full refurb from the wheel specialist. Does look like new though. I find the car is an excellent cruiser at motorway speeds and tyre noise is the only minor intrusion. Cerium Grey. I still have it and still like the colour. It does get annoying water spots. SUVs Winter - Cleaning & Ceramic coatings Next I'm not going to bother with a coating. Another £600 I don't need to spend, I'm just not going to get black or a really dark colour. Sometimes I just wish I could use the ASDA drive through car wash Oyster Interior Lesson learned here. This car was a Pre Reg. The M3 was also a Pre Reg. These are both really really dark exterior and light interiors. AKA the worst combo to keep clean. Looks best when clean but this is showroom only and about 15 minutes after a clean out at home. I'm not going this route again. Nothin wrong with it, looks amazing, and there is no lasting impact, I just don't have time to always keep on top of it. Back interiors are more me. MPG Currently at a lifetime 18,000 miles 40.4. Impressive. Range for me is usually just over 600 miles. Now onto some actual news. We were hoping to make a big house this year. House is/was the one pictured, it's about 3600sq ft and literally double the price of where we are now. Currently we've been gazzunped however, now I've persuaded everyone the hunt is on. Will mean a small mortgage and making savings elsewhere so ... an M135i is on order with TRL for the next car, due March. Only selected 2 options. No love for the cars on here I know but I'm impressed with them. Will do all I need and then some, plus it is of course an M car now according to BMW @davyk had me rumbled over on BabyBMW.net, no idea how with my well masked username? Long term plan will be:- 1. Settle in new car 2. Sort the house - double garage essential 3. Once mortgage is really low (I have some investments delivering in less than 3 years) something nice is going in that garage, current favourite would be a 6MT Mustang V8 but only if it somehow avoids OPFs for a few years! Anyway happy motoring folks, back to Rightmove for me https://configure.bmw.co.uk/en_GB/configid/l0e3t8c6/F40

Brilliant update Chris
The house plan sounds like a good one and my gut instinct says that you are probably doing it at the right time, with mortgage market opportunities that are the best ever(?) and may dry up in a year or two. M135i looks a lovely car to me, not seen too many 1-ers, but it looks like the best generation yet.

Looks like a really impressive house - hopefully the gazumpers will get cold feet at some point.
Not entirely sure about the money saving plan of ordering a new car, but I can see that I need to work harder on my man maths. I like the M135i, having sat in one in the showroom and even considered one. I rejected it as it can't take a towbar for bikes, and then promptly chose another car that can't take a towbar or a proper roofrack, relying instead on a suction mounted roofrack I hope that this house or a similar one works out. Unlike cars, you really do get a lasting benefit from spending more on houses. |

Still very much in the mix for a second car. With the kids @ 15 & 13 I still do a lot of running around with lifts but frustratingly am then only person in the car 99% of the time. The Z4 was hands down the best days test drive I've had. Loved it and the best looking car BMW make IMO.

Bad luck on gazzumping - happened to us a while back on a "dream thatched house" discussed a bit on here at the time. Since then had a discussion with an estate agent on an "anti-gazzumping agreement" when we got close to buying another - worth a thought if you get your heart set on another... not sure how strongly they'd hold up mind.
