TRL has just emailed, expected delivery is May for the G31 so we'll have a German Shepherd well before I have a new car! Hopefully it'll come forward to April. At least this way the dog should hopefully be housebroken before she ever graces the new motor with her presence!

Have a look on transk9 for storage solutions.... you will definitely want to make sure the dog can’t chew any parts of the car (my brother has a 12 month old GSD, it’s based on experience...)

Thanks Ian. We are very much planning for this already. Full boot liners will be ordered for both cars shortly, and we are planning to crate-train the pup. Mind you, I am aware real life may get in the way of best intentions. I'm expecting total chaos for the first couple of months! I might need to start a separate dog thread for advice...

I've had dogs from pups too, they will chew anything, and I mean ANYTHING. You have been warned

Crate training is good, we have used that approach with the last few. The TransK9 car crates are great as accident proof, have a door in the back in the event of an incident and dont rattle as much as most. Not cheap though....

+1 for transK9. We started with a wire cage but the rattling and squeaking drove me crazy. It only lasted a few weeks before we upgraded. Op might be lucky and find a box that fits both cars. The website is pretty good

Hi all, my 540i Touring has arrived! Apologies for the thread bump, but perhaps a bit of light relief from sickness, death & racism

By definition, with the LCI on the way, this is not a new model, so I probably won't do a review unless there is a clamour for it. However I'm happy to answers questions if anyone has any. Suffice to say I am delighted with it - a step up in almost every way from my 430d GC. And of course the best non-M car engine under the bonnet

Eye candy attached. Thanks to all who helped with the (expensive) decision-making process! And to the omnipresent Tony Lewis at Berry, who happily is fully back open for business.

Very nice. I notice it has the newer digital dash (or a totally different mode to any I've found on mine)

It's a brilliant allrounder, you'll love it.

Looks really good, particularly as a Touring and nice to see normality returning to the forum.

Still early days with my G21 but if there was a way of swapping the digital dash for good old fashioned dials I'd take it without question - the dash layout remains the one thing on the car I'm really not keen on...

mcoops How long before your google search history starts to include the phrase MPPSK for pre LCI 540i?

Yes, that one on his Insta is mine. Was nice to meet him properly after all these years on the forum, he is a proper legend! Great to see him back in business as he was furloughed.

Ha, closer to the truth than you know. I wasn't really fussed about the extra power, I really don't drive hard enough to need it. And the new cars, even pre-LCI like mine, can't have the MPE because of the OPF as far as I know. However I did have a few convos, including with Lorcan, about the ACS quad exhaust. In the end I didn't go for it as I couldn't gauge what it would be like before shelling out 2 grand. I like a fruity exhaust note, but not hooligan levels. As it turns out, the stock exhaust is quite a bit more interesting than my 430d on cold start. I will see what the engine sounds like over 4k rpm once I've run it in. But the car is so well insulated, I'm not sure 2 grand is going to be worth it for cracking the window open in a tunnel once a month!
