Yes, 225/40 will fit.

But the tires will be stretched.

Just bought some 437m myself for my f30. I'm thinking about swapping my 403m tires to the m. How's the ride? Btw, I'm lowered on Dinan springs.

400M vs 437M


This is the angle that's deceiving. If you set your eye on the same plane as the flat part of the fender, right above the tire, there is only the slightest bulge of the sidewall proud of the fender. Difficult to photograph with a phone.

Where did you buy the wheels from?

It's been a while I don't remember but I think it was dropped on H&R springs only.

UPDATE: I live in east coast, weather dropped down to 15-20 F lately. my front tire is leaking air, (it happened last year too). front tires are stretched so they leak every winter. it gets stupid annoying after few visits to the tire shop. It's fine from April to November. So I purchased some oem style 192s and installed them for the winter (required spacers in the front). BTW I don't do much driving in the winter but with the winter tires and all wheel drive, car drives great even in snow!

I am interested in a bunch of OEM side shots with measurements from the fenders as well, especially the front.

I'm on the fence between OEM and REP for a F30, but leaning towards the REPs because of my calculated poke past the fenders. Currently I have 18x8.5ET35 front (about 5mm inside fender) and 18x9.5 ET33 rear which measures 27mm. That looks just fine, but I think the perfect look is 12mm front and 21mm rear which gives an aggressive tire look outside both fenders without being too much or looking unbalanced.

Ideal 12mm / 21mm (0mm / 0mm)
19x8.5 ET35 / 19x9.5 ET40 REPs calculate to 5.5mm / 20mm (-6.5mm / - 1mm)
REPs with 5mm front spacer calculate to 10.5mm / 20mm (-1.5mm / -1mm)
19x9.0 ET29 / 19x10 ET40 OEM calculate to 18mm / 26.5mm (+6mm / +5.5mm)

Will be using 235/40 and 265/35 tires if I buy replica wheels and use 255/25 and 265/35 if I buy OEM.

Anything smaller than 235 in the front looks stretched.
Anything larger than 255 in the front will rub.
Anything larger than 265 in the rear has a chance of rubbing. Many have run 275 without issue.

In case anyone else can benefit from my research which pertains to a F30 M-Sport xDrive:

To calculate tire height: ie 245/40R19

Take the width of the tire (ie 245mm)
then convert to inches (divide by 25.4)
then multiply by the ratio (.40)
then multiply by 2 (tire on both sides of the wheel)
then add the wheel diameter (19").

eg: (((245mm / 25.4) * .40) * 2) + 19" = 26.72" tall

*Don't exceed +- 0.5" the stock tire height to maintain your suspension, speedometer, comfort, etc.
*Try to stay as close as possible to stock tire heights.
*The speedometer comes ~1% fast, meaning a 1% increase in tire height will give you a true speed.

I personally like the thicker sidewall for comfort (at the cost of some handling) and to minimize wheel gap (I don't plan on dropping my car more than 0.75")

I was afraid that the 225-255 tyres would look more stretched on 9J-10 rims, but I think that they look OK.
I never considered staying with the RFTs.
The original 437M forged wheels are lighter than my previous 400M wheels and, in combination with the also lighter non-RFT 19 tyres, give a flowing ride feeling, although you would expect harsher ride because of the 19'' setup.

That looks good Bill. I thought there were be a lot more poke as my current wheels have a ET33 offset vs ET29. Between the thicker wheel and a slightly stretched tire it doesn't appear to stick out as far as mine.

Interesting info.

Making sure there are no assumptions, exactly what is the first and second %?

Also, fwiw, there are forum members claiming they are running 275/35R19 and claim no rubbing, while others claim the ride is just too rough.
