320d touring 2013 juddering transfer box

Good afternoon gents my mate has a 4 year old x drive 320d touring and the transfer box has started to judder how long will the juddering transfer box last as he won't be able to sort it till he gets back his holiday cheers

Seriously ?

It could break in 2 miles, or it might last 2000 miles.

No way of telling.

The garage told my mate is would be fine until he was back his holidays as he has to drive to Edinburgh tonight better tell him to go hire a car
