Hi all,

I got my car today and thought I would put a DVD in and see if it worked (i traded my 2011 X5 in for this car and it worked) and it says it cant read it and only the CD symbol is there not a DVD. It is an original DVD and the same one worked in the X5 so not sure what is wrong? The car was in park etc.

I have business Nav in the F30 so maybe that has something to do with it.

606 Business Nav system Head Unit is only CD-Player, not DVD. Your 2011 X5 must have had Pro Nav, which does have DVD Player.

There is no coding. The Drive is physically incapable of DVD Playback.

Ok I need to change the HU then yes?

Can you recommend a HU I could buy to update everything?

I will be changing the 6.5 glass screen for the 8.8 too at some point.

You should retrofit with either NBT or NBT2 EVO, which is the latest.

If I wasn't worried about the DVD capability and just wanted a bigger screen (with everything working) would I still have to put a new HU in? But then I suppose for the rear view camera which I want installed I may need either of the other HU anyway I guess?

I don't know if I have CIC or NBT as it stands. I just know I have the glass screen with business nav and DAB and connected drive.

Do you know anyone in Hampshire that you could recommend to do a retrofit if I need it? Would go to London too.

I don't know what specific head unit you currently have, or if it supports larger screen and Backup Camera.

If you have 606 Business Nav, you have neither CIC nor NBT, as these Head Units are for Pro Nav.

I have no idea on Local retrofitters. Normally you buy whole Kit covering your specific needs (e.g. Head Unit, Screen, Controller, wiring harness, Emualtor / Activation Module, etc.) and then install it your self, and then either code it yourself, or seller will code remotely.

I tried following the step by step guide to coding but still can't get the codes to update in the vehicle. it says the coding was a success but when I go to read the codes again they've reverted back to what they were. can someone help me?!

or if anyone has any free time could they have a look at my laptop and car and tell me where I'm going wrong and help me with the coding I would really appreciate it.

Also will the new screen be plug and play or will I need coding for size etc?

My HU doesn't play DVDs which is annoying but can I upgrade to NBT after installing the better screen?

Finally got the time to try and setup E-Sys only to run into having to request an activation code. Upon further reading, it looks like any E-Sys Launcher, other than PRO, is now dead? I've tried on multiple computers and it keeps asking for an activation code which I've read is not possible because it's not being supported yet I still see it as a download on the popular BMW forums.

Anyone confirm?

Latest Launcher PREMIUM 2.8.2 is not dead, but depending on user's location / Windows Regional & Keyboard Settings, an Activation code may be required. There is button on screen to send developer email with "Activation Request Code" which in turn he should send the Activation Code.
