Long term reader, first time poster.

I'm in the market for an F31 330d. I've viewed an 18 plate with 20k miles. Very low mileage I know, but seemed genuine (1 owner, approved used), and well serviced/maintained.

In the engine bay there was this odd brown mark (see pics). I couldn't figure out what it might be. It looked a bit like a singe mark, but that seemed odd (yes I've read the police stories, but that's exceptional treatment of these engines...). The wire next to it looked a little frayed, but not significantly so. The lining on the bonnet appeared pristine, but recognise this could have been replaced.

Would really appreciate your thoughts on what this could be!

Just a guess but I would suspect a rodent has done that.

That's for sure a rodent attempting to make a home there in the insulation.
