Who Makes N55 Valve Cover?
Does anyone know who manufactures the Genuine BMW N55 Valve Cover for BMW? Part# 11127570292
Does anyone have an original VC that they can look at carefully for clues? If I knew for sure who makes it, I'd buy it to avoid the BMW "Genuine" upcharge. I do that already with the ZF transmission service kit, Lemforder control arms, Shell Austria fluids, Bosch, VDO, etc. I've read people claim that Mahle makes them for BMW, but at the same time I've read of problems with aftermarket valve covers that supposedly had a Mahle logo found somewhere on them. BMW list price is $569. So far the best price that I've found on the Genuine BMC VC is $440. FCP Euro (with their replacement warranty) sells it for $443. The aftermarket VCs range from $94-$300 with various problems of cracks in the plastic to bad PCV valves reported. Aftermarket listings that I've found for N55 Valve Covers so far include ECCPP, Mitzone, JDMSPEED, URO and Rein. Any input is appreciated. Thanks! |

Rein, it looks like: https://www.bimmerworld.com/Engine/G...127570292.html
They say this is the OEM one. They also recommend the URO one but from previous experiences I would say avoid anything URO at all costs. |

I replaced my OEM gasket at roughly 60k miles. I now currently have 45K on a MAHLE gasket and the original valve cover with zero signs of leaks. |
