Just ordered a 128ti

Been looking around at various cars over the past few months and finally placed an order this morning at our local BMW dealer for a 1 series 128ti. As it’s a factory order it is estimated for delivery at the beginning of April as the dealer had a couple of slots in play.

Ordered in Mineral Grey, Pro and Tech pack with red exterior embellishments deleted. I cannot wait

Did you check out the lease deals available before purchasing?

I looked into the deals - disappeared very quickly - not sure if they were as good as people made out they were.

OP - don't worry!

Enjoy, many of the reviews think the best car in class and one of the few cars of the brand I would currently buy.

Congrats that will be nice. I also went for Tech Pack and Pro on the M135i, the tech pack is a relative bargain.

Good call the red accents delete

Congrats. That should be a cracking car. Seems to get a few decent reviews as well.

An April delivery isn't so faraway (it just seems like it is with the ongoing lockdown though at the moment).

I’m in the fortunate position where it was my existing car as trade in and a cash balance to pay. Got a price from Coast2Coast which the dealer got within £200 of and a better than expected trade in price for mine.

Didn't know you delete the red, interesting. Will have to have a play on the configurator.

Talk about luck, just been back on the BMW configurator and it looks like they have increased the price by £1000. Yesterday with the Tech/Pro pack list was £36,880, today it’s £37,880

Mmm, hope someone can help?

I ordered the Pro Pack which is sun protection glass, Harmon Kardon and 19” alloys. I asked at the time about swapping the 19’s for 18” with competition tyres and the salesman told me it wasn’t possible with the Pro Pack.

I’ve been thinking and since I don’t want the 19” in particular I could just add the sun protection glass and HK audio at a total cost of £1050 instead of the £1500 and have the wheels/tyres that I want on the car. Before I ring him I just wondered if I was missing something?

You're correct I think.

Any reason for not wanting the 19s? Much much better tyres the stock ones on the 18s are awful Eco tyres.

I actually sold my original 19s, replaced them with flow formed (2kg lighter a wheel) and better offset (to negate needing spacers) with MPS4S for equivalent of £400.

Thanks for your reply, I’m going to think about it today and sleep on it before making a decision.

There is an zero cost option on the Configurator which supplies the 18” wheel with what they call a performance tyre (sorry, I think I called it a competition tyre in my earlier post) The performance tyre turns out to be a Michelin PS4, which would be good. I also think it would help the ride quality a little. Other benefit is come tyre replacement time it would be about £100 a corner rather than £150

Fair play, go with that plan then. My experience of course was on the 135i config a year ago. If the 18s come with PS4 that's a good tyre, go that route.

Good choice on the 128ti, the red accents are a personal choice, but car will look great in the mineral grey, I ordered a 218i 2 series gran coupe back in late November for 1st March delivery and dealer has pushed that date back to the very end of March at best, more likely early April which is a pain as I need to road tax and first MoT the F30, so you appear to have struck it lucky with delivery for April

The configurator for the 2 series GC has been updated in the last few days as the previous live cockpit plus option at £1k now seems to be the default and the cost of the car now reflects this, I am assuming that having ordered and paid a deposit for the car in 2020 for a 2021 build and agreed a cost to buy the vehicle outright I will not be stung for the extra £1k.

Or maybe I will......

I’m keeping my finger crossed for the April delivery, hope the dealer isn’t telling porkies! You’d certainly hope your dealer/BMW would honour your original agreed price. I need to check the configurator, maybe that’s why the 128ti gained £1000 as well. (just checked, you’re right!)

You say that but the 255/40/R18 tyre on my rears were dearer than the 255/35/R19 recommended tyre for a 19" alloy.
