I think this car is a winner, hell I’d even drive the 240i as I think that’s a helluva car for the price. As long as they don’t somehow surprise us all with the trash G80/82 grills this is going to be my next car in 2023.

I’ll just have to deal with the damned dash and the boring mirrors.

Why do you think they put real physical dials and switches in 3 million super cars and not just some giant ipad thing?

Cause some things are classic and timeless for a reason, where as all this 'tech' nowadays can look outdated when the next wave of tech hits

I am fine with the “old” tech in my F87. Give me classic gauges. Hell I put up with the old tech in my E39 M5 for 11y and never felt cheated or like I was missing something. I guess I am a c”a”rmudgeon.

Agreed. I still don't like the latest BMW dashboards with the reverse tachometer gauge. They were fixing something that didn't need fixing and made it worse.

Yeah I don’t get this, I vastly prefer the interior of my F8x cars over the G82 I had for a short time. The interior on the G8x was a letdown honestly outside the carbon buckets. Gimme dials and switches!

Those aren't coming back. Not in a top level BMW or in pretty well any automaker outside of base models and cheap cars. You can complain for days on end but it's not going to change anything.

Oh I know that. I was not asking for it. I was just wondering why Porsche, Jag, Audi and others can still have a real instrument cluster area where the screen lives and a separate one for everything else like Idrive 7 is and have it look good and function well. I just dont like Idrive 8’s cheap looking video game screen.

Don't find where he's asking for them to come back. Just a modern interpretation of them like what Porsche did (see below) would be more than fine. BMW did a complete makeover and made it worse.

I've never been a fan if ID7 Live Cockpit Pro. The actual display is dark and not as vibrant as other manufacturer LCD displays and I have never liked the boomerang gauges. ID8 looks to have the similar counterintuitive gauges but I hope that it has other options unlike ID7 that lacks much in the way of customizability as you are stuck with a single view unless you have an M car where you get the other option that is better but still not the best. At least from what I've seen the ID8 LCD is brighter and more vibrant which to me is an improvement. I have no issue with the MB copycat screen setup as IMO it looks great in the E-class.

My biggest problem with the new M2 isn't the tech, the touchscreens or wahtever.
It's that rear.....

The taillights are definitely the worse part of the rear but hopefully the M treatment will fix the overly busy M240i front and rear bumper treatments.

The taillights and the video Idrive 8 screen will be the two hurdles for me to get over if the rest of the car is spectacular. Manual, RWD and all!
