Old car but low mileage maintenance
I have a 2013 328i xDrive at 38k miles. I bought it at 16k miles.
My user manual doesn't mention anything about maintenance schedule. I looked it up online but I can't trust the 3rd party websites trying to sell me services I don't need. Is there an official BMW source for the schedule? I change oil ever year as I drive less than 7k miles a year. I recently changed the Engine and Cabin air filter. Do I need to flush anything? Do I need to replace any parts even though the mileage is low but the car is getting old? When should I change the fuel filter? |

Radiator and brakes should be flushed every two years by the schedule, but you can also get testers for each to see if it is really necessary. Engine air filter every 20k miles. Transmission pan, fluid, and filter every 50k miles (some say longer). Differentials and transfer case at 60k miles, as well as spark plugs. Rotate tires and inspect brake pads at every oil change. Ignition coils at 100k (my preference). Shocks and struts as needed or every 75k (also my preference), with four wheel alignment on replacement. Oil changes yearly at 7k miles is fine.
Fuel filter is part of the fuel pump and is not serviceable. Well, not easily anyway. I'm probably forgetting something, but if there's anything else, I'm sure someone will remember.

New spark plugs and ignition coils
New differential fluid New drive belt and tensioner Transmission pan/ filter and fluid swap Oil change with Liqui Moly Engine Flush and added Liqui Moly Ceratec All are very easy to do with numerous YouTube videos for guidance….check out FCP Euro and Kies Motorsports Also, buy all parts and oil from FCP Euro. They have lifetime warranty on all parts, including oil, which means all your oil changes can be free.

What about brake fluid changes? If not I would do it. Check coolant hoses. Don't bother with the following unless you simply want to: Differiental Coolant - Unless you end up replacing some hoses. Tensuoners, Idler pulley, serpertine, - unless it's making noise.

I didn't change any fluids including the brake fluid. Because System check screen shows everything as OK. I change the oil at official BMW dealerships. Maybe they are OK'ing everything but I am not sure if they actually checked the brake fluid. Why should I check the coolant hoses? For leaks? I don't notice anything wrong with the car. I just want to make sure that I am doing the maintenance right. |

The brake fluid interval in the US is every 2 yrs. I also forgot to mention to check the battery. Due to the ridiculously low mileage you have a different situation than the majority of us.
