Got it. I had a seller saved at $89 but they ran out and posted the last one at $999. Did a couple of searches since then and no one else had it. Soon after I asked here I searched again and found three at 90 including what you posted. I suppose the Megan manufactured some and they were distributed.

Yeah, I don't think these are regularly stocked items. I don't see F30 strut bars as a hot selling item.

Megan probably makes them in batches and sellers jack up the price when they sell out.

They change the price to $999 because they don't want to take down the ebay listing. Relisting an item on ebay cost the seller money $$. So they price it high.... while they wait for supply.

You could always buy direct from Megan for $109 - the MSRP. It was available when the other sellers were at $999.

Just ordered a Megan Racing strut bar on ebay for $99.95.
I'm getting Dinan springs (-1"), the Ride Quality & Handling kit, the strut bar, new cross-drilled rotors & Hawk HPS 5.0 pads, and StopTech stainless steel brake lines all installed along with a 4-wheel alignment. Really looking forward to it.

I retrofitted the F80 strut brace which goes one step beyond by bolting to the outer frame as well, not just between struts towers.

The stock bar is a V, which means it can bend and is designed to bend, a strut brace limits the movement of the struts top points and as a result keeps the general geometry tidy, that otherwise allow some movement.

I noticed that you seem to have replaced your top bolts with an alternative and fitted them upside down from the underside.

Just wondered why you chose to go down this route and what bolts you used. I had concerns when fitting my strut brace voiced on my thread:- https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...4#post26502114

Google Chrome has auto translate.

In any case solid bars are more of a hassle as hinged are perfectly capable with the added benefit of being able to quickly get to stuff under the cover. Rennline makes it this way for Porsches so your BMW will be fine.

The OE strut bolts are one time use so..good luck.

Lol... yea ... looked for a page translator..using firefox browser... thought forget it and just send email ... looks like you have to do that anyways.... they already contacted me to send additional info so they can send it...

OE one time use... really... figures all videos on youtube don't mention that..

As for pivot vs static... I'll take the static... pivot still will let geometry twist way more than a static mount... looks like a really good company.. I'll take my chances with fit ... but after I investigate strut bolts... thanks so much... really appreciate the heads-up...

Cusco they know there stuff. Got lots of drivetrain and chassis brace from them... my old days running JDM.

The solid and hinge design for braces has been debated already and there no clear winner.. same BS. They both work the same. Just go with what you think will make your life easier if you DIY

He has different top hats, they're adjustable camber plates just like my Vorshlags.

Just for chits and giggles like to see that strut test with both designs... shock travel will tell all... still siding on the static mount... First gotta find out about these bolts... KCdesign looks like they put in a lot of R&D considering they have a whole line of frame products for this car... they even have a front clip stiffener... first time I've seen that for this car... I just want to tighten up the front end a little considering that I am running offsets... don't want to stiffen the back-end up just yet... We'll see how it pivots in the turns first... ... considering the "M" cars have one... obviously the car needs it..

P.s. Now thinking about it... the front clip brace explains why the M3/4 strut bar looks the way it does... it stiffens the front clip also... which means guess it needs it...

I know you made this post years ago but figured I'd try to see if your still active on here. That link for that ARC carbon fiber strut bar did you buy it from there?
Do they ship to the states?

I have searched and can't find any place else selling that ARC strut bar. Honestly didn't know ARC made things for non japanese cars but apparently they do. I really want that strut bar it's super nice and surprisingly cheap for a carbon bar. Thanks in advance.

I got it from a reseller so I did not used the link to buy it hence no experience buying from that website. You should just try use that link and see if they do.

Alright so i am bumping this thread because i just read through the entire thing, along with most other strut bar threads on the forums.

I am wondering if anyone is running the Turner (aka "Wiechers Sport Racingline Aluminum Front Strut Brace - F30 F31 F32 F36")?
https://www.turnermotorsport.com/p-5...race-aluminum/

I want a hinger bar that allows you to adjust preload. This one appears to be one of the few in that style, where you would spin the bar once installed to 'push apart' on the bolts that go to the hinge, then use the lock nuts once set. Can anyone confirm?

Any other examples of hinged bars that allow you to adjust preload in this manner?

Following thehermeyman9's pre-load question. Also, Kilogram, any luck finding a hinged, steel version?

More importantly, it transmits those moments about the weakest axis of the bar. The bar will flex a lot more with solid mounts than it will with pin connections at the mounts. This will allow more chassis deflection.

The other thing that's worth talking about is that these bars should be made of steel, not aluminum. For strength to weight, aluminum wins. But for stiffness to weight, steel destroys aluminum. Steel's modulus of elasticity is 3x that of aluminum. The problem we're trying to solve with these bars is deflection in the chassis, and steel is the better material for the job. It's also cheaper, and for a given stiffness, lighter than aluminum.
